MFY luck always seems to turn bad in October. Boo hoo.

Higashioka got in on the act as well: "It wasn't a terrible pitch at all."
You can console yourself about exit velocities and wind conditions... or maybe throw a fastball 6 inches outside that the ump was calling all night for Severino because MLB and Rob Manfred want the Yankees in the World Series because he had a loose strike zone

Bregman with a controlled swing on a pitch inside isn't *just* luck; it's a good approach and knowing his ballpark. And if Judge wanted his 106mph fly ball to go over the fence he should have maximized the efficiency of his launch angle (it wouldn't have just been bad luck if he hit a 106mph popout to 2B). Or he should have pulled it like Bregman did.
But it's true that luck going one way or the other could hypothetically reverse the outcome of, I don't know, probably half of all baseball games.

Luck is part of the game (to the degree anyone wants to claim Bregman's HR was good luck and Judge's non HR was bad luck). Stop whining about it and making excuses.

Judge's night was kind of wild. His 4 ABs, with EV and xBA:
112, .810 (lineout) 101, .250 (single) 104, .020 (flyout) 106, .910 (flyout)
The 101mph single was his weakest hit ball of the night.

What if we act like there is grand significance to the outcome of baseball games and treat our champions as conquering heroes and allow them to tell legendary tales of their exploits that we repeat uncritically for decades
That would probably be more fun than calling the outcome of every series, game, at bat and swing a crapshoot

I assure you it is very easy to yell COUNT THE RINGZZZ, call Big Papi the greatest baseball hero of all time and laugh at how Aaron Judge has never even made it to the World Series. Infact, as the big winners of the modern era, it is our duty to do this and raise the stakes and make October baseball more fun for fans of teams that would love to shut us up and get to tell their own stories instead.

It is not a good mentality. You need the “it’s just one game” mindset. You start replaying losses, it means you feel like you really needed that one. They might be feeling a lot of heat.

Again another clown ump steals a critical playoff ab with his Incompetence That was a tough one. I think by the letter of the law the ump had it right, but it was only because of the way Profar's body bent in getting out of the way of the pitch. I could see the case for the ump giving the batter the benefit of the doubt, but on the other hand, why was Profar trying to dodge the pitch in that situation anyway? I'd have been miffed if I was the pitcher and it had gone the other way.

Is it just my general Yankee loathing or is this group particularly unlikable, personality-wise? They all seem to be on a spectrum from bland to douchey (roughly, Judge to Donaldson). Nary a Mariano or Bernie Williams in the group to kinda like despite myself.

For the 2nd straight LCS Kyle Schwarber finds his team up 2 games to 1. Let's see if the rest of the series and his performance turns out different this year. Last year he, like the rest of the team, stopped hitting and the team stopped winning. Should be interesting to see how this series goes.
My gut says Philly will surprise and handle San Diego before they go down in the Series, but...my gut has been known to be wrong at times. Lol

This reminds me of watching the Philly Special Super Bowl in a Reno sports bar with my old man. The Philly fans were so hungry, living and dying with every play. I was going back and forth with them good-naturedly and after it was over, as they staggered in and out of hugs with complete strangers, wearing those stunned, blissed out, 1000-yard stares, I said to one of them "See? Doesn't it feel good? Now do it four more times and get the Phillies, Flyers and Sixers to pitch in a few too."

I'm ahead of myself in saying the Yankees are going to lose. Let's hope I don't jinx it.
