Hoy Park: traded, claimed or outrighted successfully?
You're guessing if you claim to know

This confuses the hell out of me. Why hold onto Park, let Thad Ward go in the Rule 5 draft and then release Park after the fact?? Only thing I can think of that would justify this is that the team saw something in Ward they didn’t like. Because Park is passable through waivers at a time when most teams are crunched on the 40 man, while Ward 100% would be claimed. Agreed, if Ward were on the 40-man and his spot was needed, he would be claimed and GONE! This way there is a chance the Red Sox get him back. I fully expect Song and probably Politi to be returned.

No credit for claiming Arroyo at all! Seems unfair Full credit. Valuable bench guy. A bit nervous he may be starting at 2b. But again… is he your big example? You’re talking about tinkering at the margins of the roster, I’d say getting Schreiber/Whitlock/Arroyo out of that over the span of a few seasons is pretty damn good

Yeah, Sox are betting he will sneak through with the 40 man crunches. I hope so, he seemed like decent depth especially in the event we add a very middling MI or don’t add one at all (unlikely).
Hardly worth getting upset over Lobo about lol. My bet is they figured this would be happening with Park when they got him anyway, what with the plan supposedly being to add a bunch of guys.

I meant not core guys in the bigs. So I’m including such misses as Downs, Franchy, etc. The bottom line is there has been a huge amount of talent out to gave so little talent in.

Can we not turn the Hoy Park DFA into the 100th referendum on the entirety of Chaim Bloom's tenure

A final reminder against posts that don't relate to the thread. Also, please stop with the trolling.

Is that because Bloom will be fired or because you get banned for turning every thread into a tedious referendum on Bloom? (That’s not a joke or an idle threat, by the way. Please stop turning every thread into a referendum on Bloom. You have been warned about this before.)

And I have been well behaved this off season. And it seems like the referendum is relatively widespread at this point. I am a veritable defender, given my enthusiasm for Yoshida and Martin, especially.

It is not the substantive opinion that is the issue, it is your relentless desire to revisit past transactions on unrelated threads. There is absolutely no reason to bring up Downs (Betts trade) or Franchy (Benintendi trade) on this thread at this time, but you’ve found a way.

Masataka Yoshida signing is official. Jeter Downs has been DFA'ed. Roster still at 40.

The 2020~ era prospects were dealt a difficult hand. Downs tore it up in 12 AA games in 2019 and who knows how his development would've turned out differently had they played in 2020/he didn't jump right to AAA in 2021. I hope he can carve out a nice utility or second-division career -- his defense definitely impressed me in his short stint up.

Mookie trade discourse incoming.. I'm going to get ahead of this and state that any overarching Mookie trade discussion will be immediately deleted. We can all stipulate that the trade looks really bad for the Red Sox and that Downs never developed as the Red Sox had hoped. Beyond that, please keep to the topic of the thread.

There's an alternate universe where Covid never happens, Downs rakes at Portland in 2020, is the regular starting 2B in Boston come September 2021, thereby allowing the Red Sox the financial flexibility to sign Carlos Correa and trade Xander Bogaerts.

I actually feel happier about not trying to trade Xander for prospects at the deadline.

Who is the next DFA? We couldn't trade Downs? Strange moves keep happening.
