I have a feeling a lot of Red Sox wind up in their preview because of Geoff Pontes' familiarity with the system from his pre-BA days, given he and JJ Cooper are the Rule 5 guys there. Not to say the Red Sox don't have a number of guys who fit the preview, but I wonder if the equivalent of Scott from, say, Oakland's system winds up featured. They had a few guys written up last year too, if I recall correctly (although they then had 3 guys picked, so it was appropriate).
Not a good or bad thing either way, just an observation.

Bastardo is the guy I'd be most bummed about losing. Maybe his late season swoon saves us, but doesn't seem like a bad bet to see what he looks like as a SIRP in the majors

I noticed that Jay Groome is still on the Padres 40 man roster. He's now out of options. I'm not feeling great about our guys getting past San Diego.

Fyi, Sunday is the last day to outright a player before the draft on Thursday.

Fyi, Sunday is the last day to outright a player before the draft on Thursday. If a team makes a opens up space on the 40-man, is there a deadline to fill that spot bfore the draft? IE if the Red Sox announce a trade on Tuesday is there time to finalize the trade and complete roster moves to add a player or two from their system to the 40 man? Edit: I realize this is an academic exercise because most teams have openings on their 40 man right now, I am just wondering.

No offense to the guy, but I’ll eat a bowl of drywall if Van Belle gets plucked

Yesterday BA released a podcast with a brief preview of the rule 5 draft. Both hosts, despite being obsessively interested in the draft, said that the available players were extremely weak. They speculated that there could be an all time low number of players taken, something in the 5 or 6 range.
I think there's some projected disappointment in there leading to a bit of an exaggeration, but otoh it was surprising to see a couple terrible teams with picks in the top 3 already taking a pass with full 40 man rosters. We'll see.

BA says Rangers RHP Justin Slaten is receiving the most buzz, while MLB Pipeline lists Mitch Spence, Matt Sauer, Justin Slaten, Cole Wilcox, Tanner Burns, Tobias Myers, Coleman Crow, and Nasim Nunez. I still wouldn't be surprised if a Red Sox got drafted, but doesn't sound like they're receiving the most buzz.
