So Whitlock is going to the active roster on Tuesday. Interested to see who goes down for the countermove. Ort has been surprisingly good and Brasier can't be sent down.
My best guess is Kutter Crawford goes down so they can continue to keep starting him in AAA.
After that, it gets really interesting for roster decisions for Bello in a week and Paxton in May.

Kelly has been overworked and hasn't been good, I expect him to go first

Crawford seems like an easy one for Whitlock. Then would guess Kelly when Bello is ready but probably he or Ort. Then when Paxton is ready it’ll be interesting, I’d guess Winckowski, but what do they do in the rotation? When Joely is ready then whoever of Ort or Kelly wasn’t optioned the first time, unless Brasier is still awful at that point.
But honestly I’m expecting another injury or a setback before all 4 of those guys are back in action.

His non ability to adjust to the new rules, and not being able to handle the running game at all, letting them run at will is disappointing. If you're willing to DFA Barnes because you don't like him at all, it should be the case for Brasier. Add Wyatt Mills as a guy you probably want to add when he gets healthy. He's got great stuff, too. I'd like to see Winkowski get some run out of the bullpen if he continues to perform at the MLB level.

Can they just find another guy as good as Brasier? Maybe, but if the team doesn’t think so they’ll keep him and save the other guys as depth for a while. Brasier’s numbers last year, outside of ERA, are actually good, so I expect he gets a little more leash to turn it around.

Assuming some combination of Bello, Paxton, Whitlock in the rotation, wouldn’t at least one of Crawford, Houck, Winck be able to replace Brasier?

I agree with your logic, but it was also there this off-season when Brasier was guaranteed 2mil and kept on the 40-man roster. Can't imagine they let Brasier go this early; Bloom loves his pitching depth.

I think they’ll probably just send Kutter down and keep him stretched out
