Ok… that is interesting.
It is odd to me to get Martin up immediately. It seems like second-guessing. Huh.

This will sound 20/20 but I was very much not thrilled with seeing multiple 99s on the gun in Atlanta
I don’t have a problem with going to Kenley again today or with not using a quick hook. You’re asking the manager to undermine his closer in the second week of May after a poor outing?

Really cute, Wilson. Now… he’s your four seamer under the chin.

Wouldn’t shock me if they drill Contreras today Kluber is pitching tonight so it won't hurt. Maybe Ryan Brasier will do the honors tonight.

It is only May, but these two losses leave us back in last place which does take away some of the "feel good" from the Sox recent success. Nothing a win tonight can't cure though.
Hopefully, Kluber takes the ball tonight and reminds us of his old self like Paxton and Sale have !!
I also hope Kiki gets the night off. I love Kiki and for now anyway, he is our SS. But he needs today to be his planned day off.

That usually means the game is not going so well ! How about he gets used as a 1st inning opener, plunks Contreras and gets ejected. No worries after that

Bobby's days are numbered. Don't think they'd hesitate to DFA him if they needed the spot on the 40.

Bobby's days are numbered. Don't think they'd hesitate to DFA him if they needed the spot on the 40. Gammons texting the Red Sox source he’s acting as a mouthpiece for: “Hey I’ve got a few characters left in this tweet, anything else you want me to add?… no, can’t fit ‘all time good guy’, that takes me one character over… make all time one word? Sure!”

They got Reyes for free, can’t imagine they get anything for Dalbec but there’s also no reason to give him away right now with no 40-man crunch

On the pregame interview that day, AC said Kiké was scheduled to have last Sunday off, but it was the day Arroyo hit the IL.

Closers can blow games here and there. The last 2 games were real struggles, concerning.

No worries after that I have no desire to ever see Brasier pitch, but suffice to say, the way the series is going so far, I don't expect to see good things from soft tossing Klubet tonight. So a Brasier sighting is certainly possible and Brasier can throw hard enough to hit a batter, not that I advocate doing so. At this point I think he has a better shot at plunking a batter than he does getting him out, lol.

Hopefully a blip he can move pass quickly. He's got some great stuff but if he falls behind he is dead meat. Runners will make a mockery of him.

I expect Kenley to give up some HRs to lose a game here and there but I dont expect 4 pitch walks to start an inning. That's not Kenley. I didn't mind Kenley blowing the first game, first time on the mound after a big emotional and career milestone, the let down probably contributed to the performance. I for the life of me cannot justify bringing him back out yesterday after so many pitches the night before and the issues he had. I've heard people say jump back on the horse, and sure, you want him to, but it doesn't have to be the next night in the exact same scenario as a manager you just witnessed him shit the bed in. So I put yesterday @ 70/30 Cora vs. Kenley's fault. and actually if you take into consideration Kiké, it's probably 60/20/10, Cora, Kiké, and Kenley. That spiked throw was so brutal even 50cent blushed and reached out to Kiké after to give sympathy. Tough way to lose two games where our starting pitchers did what we've been BEGGING them to do for the whole first half of the season. I mean, Sale gave them 8ip and made one mistake the entire game. And Paxton looked really good despite a two year layoff. You have to find ways to win those games. It's funny, going into the series there was a sense that this was an easy series win with how the Cards have played so far this year, and maybe, just maybe, the Sox themselves bought into that narrative as well (and if they did, shame on them).

In the meantime, have to learn from it and regroup. Tough couple of losses but nice to see Paxton and Sale pitch so well. The losses stunk. But, a great outing by Sale is better in the long run. Was very pleased with Paxton too. Want to see how he bounces back though. That was the best Sale has looked since 2018.

For me, it wasn't that he pitched too long, it was that he pitched at all.

Ok, so in the next 5 days Joely and Kutter will be back and Whitlock will be right behind them. So who goes?
I think we all agree that Brasier should have gone long ago.. Is it finally time?

This danged division... We were feeling good about our little split with the Braves, and now somehow the Blue Jays have swept them? At least the Orioles only won their series against the Pirates 2-1. And *someone* had to lose the Yankees-Rays game.
The division as a whole is on a 100-win per team pace, despite playing a bunch of games against each other. It's ludicrous.

Still early in the season, but staring to get 2009 John Smoltz vibes from Kluber. Kinda starting to lose patience
