How long do teams carry draft rights to a guy that's playing another professional sport? Feleipe Franks just got waived today and while I'm not suggesting he has any shot at a baseball career, it just made me generally curious. Also, getting a tweet notification that Feleipe Franks got waived and immediately thinking "oh yeah, Red Sox draftee" is one of the most broken-brain moves conceivable. He was released in April fyi. I know, was more of a general question about whether or not there’s a limit to how long they can “reserve” his rights.

I'm sorry, but this is positively absurd. I would have to concur on this being fairly outlandish. If you make it to the Major Leagues at age 25, struggle, and get sent back down, it's not as though you say "ehh I guess that was it, I got my shot. I got a taste of the Major Leagues, but I've just got to be realistic.." Particularly when you're a middle infielder, and look up and see the kind of numbers being produced by the Red Sox middle infield as a whole (which I believe are close to, if not the worst in MLB?) Also, injuries... Also, expanded rosters and the opportunity to have a David Robertson sort of impact in September/October (although I realize this is less likely now that it's only 28 players).. Dave Roberts? Or does Hamilton have a sneaky fastball we don't know about?

But it's possible, I'm certain the guys on here could quickly confirm or deny that. But based on the way he short arms the ball over to first, my gut tells me no...

Looks like Salem will catch Dylan Crews on Saturday as he's already been promoted after one game.

Zanetello and Teel out after 5 innings. 0-2 games for both. I wonder if Teel will get promoted once he's built up to a full game. My thoughts exactly!🤔. BTW, Mayer is 11-18... in that Eleven strikeouts in his last 18 ABs. He is only 20 so will recover. But, should he be in Greenville?

SSS for rafaela and what he's done in AAA but I mean it wouldn't be the craziest idea to call him up while he's scorching hot and see if he can't light a spark during this stretch run.

Think that would be too soon for him. Perhaps and there's more to think about in terms of his development long term then a short term boost to the 2023 sox so I don't blame them for not doing it yet but I have a hard time believing he wouldn't offer more to the ML roster than Reyes, Chang and perhaps Arroyo. Then again they have story coming back soon to replace one of them anyway so I guess what's the rush.

Don't overlook Stephen Scott. Making a solid case for the 40 man. New to catching but has the tools and is in the learning curve.
Better bat and arm than Hickey.

But, like you said with Story coming back soon and with the addition of Urias I don't see a spot for him on the roster currently.

Rafaela is absurd. Gotta be the September call up right? With September being limited to 2 players only and one of those being a pitcher, baring an injury, it seems unlikely.

Re: The Rafaela HR He worked the count in his favor by getting to 3-0 count laying 2 close fastballs (2 seamer down & 4 seamer up) then swatted a 91 mph up and in to LCF. Progress…

Drohan's AAA disaster numbers aside.... notable, he's back to throwing his cutter which was so good early in the year with Portland. It weirdly morphed into a bad slider for many starts in Worcester, but is back now. Looks like he is keeping the slider and basically dumping his curve, though.

He could definitely help as a defensive replacement or pinch runner at the very least.

Other options right now would be Hamilton, Urias, Valdez. Can see Valdez as a lefty platoon guy or Hamilton as a pinch runner. Would like Urias to come up now and replace Arroyo. Rafaela could be a defensive replacement at two positions and a pinch runner and gives more offensive upside than at least Hamilton.

Another Rafaela HR (he goes back-to-back with David Hamilton). Worcester is a total ‘banbox’…. are kidding there have been 10 HRs hit in the game today and it is only in the 7th inning. Great, Rafaela has hit 9 HRs, but how many convert to the MLB parks with MLB pitching. I hope Worcester puts up something to deflect the wind some there are not so many HRs (certainly not because I do not like HRs, but the inflated ERA and problem cause with the pitchers confidence….like Drohan should feel great because he ‘only’ gave up 3 of the 10 HRs allowed today…?… Syracuse today, but my comment on Worcester stands
