They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Since we played Atlanta EVERYONE who has pitched against us has been very good. Score some damn runs.

My ideal trade target if Detroit is willing to listen this winter.

Since we played Atlanta EVERYONE who has pitched against us has been very good. Score some damn runs. Very true. But it has gotten hilarious (and frustrating) how many times in the last few weeks I've looked pre-game at an opposing pitcher's 5.50+ ERA, expecting an offensive outburst, and heard O'Brien say at the outset "This guy has actually been pitching VERY well of late." And then I actually go look at the numbers, and it's true haha.. Offense has stunk. Period. But it does seem like that has happened often to the Sox against bad teams/pitchers this season, catching them on mini "streaks," if you can call them that.

I'm excited and nervous to see what Sale does. Surely he can still dominates a Tigers team.

If the plan is for Sale to go 4 innings (ideally), then who's going to bridge the gap? With a fairly right-handed heavy Detroit team, and Walter optioned.. will it be "The Bear Claw"?

If Turner is too banged up to play against a left handed starter, why not put him on the DL and call up a right-handed bat to help out?
I also still don't get the Story situation. He had an arm injury. He could still do cardio and should be in great shape. He is a young man and is being paid millions of dollars because he is a good athlete. I don't understand why he can't play two days in a row at short unless it's his arm. If his arm is not strong enough to play regularly at short, why didn't management tell him we are going to play you at second this year and see about shortstop next year. There has to be less stress on an arm at second than at short. Then you could have kept Yu at short and had a good defensive middle of the infield with one being a proven major league hitter.
Again, there just doesn't seem to be any urgency to win this year (including not trading for a starter). If I were a player with a limited number of years to play, the lack of urgency in trying to win this year would be disturbing. If i were a free agent who wanted to win, I wouldn't be looking to go to the Red Sox.

But, lets hope the Sox bats are in fire tonight and get a big lead.

I missed the full context, but I am surprised he’s not on the IL.

Agree that Turner should be on the IL. The bench is short right now and that is not sustainable.

He won’t come back 100% but it’s gotta be better than what it will be if he tries to play soon. Dude can barely run as is

Turner’s only missed four games. I don’t think it’s crazy to prefer to have a short bench for a week and Turner for a week than Dalbec for two weeks.

With Whitlock and Sale back, a trip to the 10 day for Paxton might be a worthwhile investment

Refsnyder 7 Devers 5 Duvall 8 Yoshida DH Story 6 Verdugo 9 Reyes 4 Casas 3 Wong 2 Interesting that Reyes is at second rather than Urias. Riding the hot bat, I guess, but I thought Urias was brought here to be the everyday second baseman.

Three things could happen there: 1) Rafaela isn’t as good as Turner. 2) Rafaela is really good and then what do you do in 10 days when Turner is ready, who sits? 3) Cora doesn’t play Rafaela much If you really thought he was gonna tear it up then you do it, but I don’t think they’re so confident in that.
