They should have just spent a few $mm and signed a kicker instead of screwing around with drafting one (again). Ryland is getting 1.1 this year. The most expensive kicker in the game is only getting 6 - and he is arguably the greatest kicker ever. So the savings are not huge. Hope you feel better now! Merry Christmas

If Belichick is gone after the season, you know he’d love to sabotage the draft position. He can be a mean SOB.

Ryland definitely coming back next year, I’m ok with it after that kick
Live with the rookie growing pains, only cold weather kicker on the market next year is an old legatron I’m pretty sure

If I’m not mistaken that win drops New England all the way from 2 to 4. At 4-11 they have the same record as the Washington Football Team but a higher SOS so it’s suddenly: Carolina (Bears) Cardinals Washington Patriots Tennessee
For the top 5.

Zappe so bad lol Douglas couldn’t have been more wide open and that ball could not have been thrown more inaccurately I feel comfortable with him commanding the tank This one didn't age well.

So, how about Zappe as a starter? Now 4-2 record over two seasons with a passer rating over 100 each time in the wins. 117 tonight.
Btw, Tommy was also 4-2 in his 1st four starts (while many/most were clamoring for Drew -- I don't think they liked the "noodle arm," wanted the gun) but with only 2 games with a passer rating over 100.

We may want to tank. But no coach is going to tell his team to purposely tank. As it no only affects the team but the players who may be FA (ie a player will lose money).
This team isnt horrible (top down) like CAR.

Since they're now not going to get Maye thanks to meaningless wins, I'm bringing back Zappe to be the starter and draft someone to hold the clipboard. There's something there with Zappe. You see it every game until the play calling gets absolutely brutal. I'm not naive enough to believe he's capable of being a franchise QB, but I want to see how he develops when he's not being jerked around. I also think there's still value in having a rookie QB not being given the keys to the kingdom in their first season. If the Patriots are at 4 or higher in the draft I want them to trade down. At that point there's no one on the board worth it that is going to really help their current woes.

Hey, wonder what the Denver media/fans think of Sean Payton calling multiple timeouts so the Patriots could go kick a winning FG?

Must’ve stopped reading at that post. I acknowledged it before you did. He played well after the first two drives where he was really bad. He is now a bad tank commander, he’s playing like a guy who can win some games How’s Trubisky looking these days? No more outrage over me calling him bad? If anybody can take the victory lap on me for Zappe its umass lol

Screw it. Beat the Jets, bring back Bill, start Zappe, build up the offensive line and a juggernaut defense with Judon and Gonzalez back. Surprise superbowl run coming 2024

Actually I don't read the forum during the game as I tape it & watch it from behind so I can fast forward through commercials & play stoppages (& sometimes between plays if the game's going poorly or the announcers are especially annoying). So, yours was the 1st post I saw after the game-winning drive & kick. Wasn't looking for a "victory lap." Maybe I spend too much time on Twitter -- more like an @oldtakesexposed.

That post was after the first 2 drives where he fumbled and made the most miserable pass to a wide open guy on 3rd down. He then played like not even a backup after that, he played like a starting caliber QB. To the point where now I’m thinking if they beef up the Oline and get a #1 WR I’ve convinced myself of an AFCCG appearance at the very least because this league is mediocre. He certainly made that initial post look quite bad lol

He certainly made that initial post look quite bad lol So, a 2022 Dane Brugler scouting report for you to assess (Is this an NFL starter?): STRENGTHS: Quick setup and compact arm-action release … athletic pocket mover with footwork that is tied to his mind … slides to buy time and efficiently regain balance … works through things quickly with the field sense to understand where his outlets are … very accurate in the short-to-intermediate game, driving the ball on outs or crossers … coaches say he developed resiliency over the past four years … high-intangibles player with hard-working and humble attitude (head coach ... : “There’s no greater competitor that I’ve been around …”) … durable four-year starter, starting 46 consecutive games … the most productive quarterback in school history, holding almost every ... passing record. WEAKNESSES: Undersized, and the pocket can eat him up … arm strength is mediocre, especially when he doesn’t incorporate his base or hips … consistently late and off-the-mark as a deep-ball passer, giving defenders time to adjust and make a play … caught bird-dogging his targets … process is too easily disrupted by the pass rush, allowing his mechanics and reads to break down … doesn’t take care of the football (fumbled in six different games in 2021, including three against ...) … was benched during the 2021 ... rivalry game against … total touchdown production declined from 35 as a sophomore to 24 as a junior and 20 as a senior. I removed some identifying info. Would you want that guy leading your NFL team?
