This year's Red Sox are simply a totally average team at best. The different parts rarely fit together well all year.

This offense without Casas? Ehhhhhhhh not so good. I’m not sure if the numbers bear this out, but the offense hasn’t seemed the same since Duran went down. He was the spark.

Bobby 0-4 with 4ks all going down swinging. That has to be the worst feeling

I think I am going to celebrate the end of this team like the 2018 World Series champs when it is all over. What a flippin' year. and with so many question marks and needs for this team to be better next season. let's hope. but i think we have most likely run out of worst to first passes.

Ceddy Ballgame clearly trying to be the hero there.
Needs to recognize that Raffy is on deck and he needs to be more selective.

0-10 RISP What a season of failures. Can't hit when it counts, can't make the plays either.

If everyone on the roster were a free agent, I think I would want to bring back: Devers, Duran, Casas, Turner, Rafaela, Abreu, Martin, Bello….and….who am I missing? Winck maybe?

If everyone on the roster were a free agent, I think I would want to bring back: Devers, Duran, Casas, Turner, Rafaela, Abreu, Martin, Bello….and….who am I missing? Winck maybe? This premise is sort of busted because there are a lot of guys on this team who we'd want to keep around because they are valuable at their cost and with their remaining control. The only guys you shouldn't want to have are guys who are a poor value. So, guys like Sale, Yoshida, and Story, depending on how you feel about them going forward. Guys like Wong, McGuire, Houck, Crawford, Bernardino, etc. might not be prime FA targets, but they're affordable and controllable, and therefore assets nonetheless. By the time the team is in a position to aim higher in these roster spots due to value added elsewhere, the results on the field will have improved substantially.

Nick Pivetta 2.0 is a very good pitcher, if he’s your number 5 starter entering next season, you’re cooking…
They honestly should be thinking about extending him this offseason

Yamamoto/Snell/Bello/Sale/Pivetta
Firing Bloom means we need to come into the offseason and make moves. This would be an elite starting 5. Only need to sign 2 guys and resign 1 that won’t be expensive. We got Crawford, Houck for injury replacement. Let’s make it happen!

I prefer Montgomery to Snell but yeah imo they need to add 2 legit SP Nice to see Zack Kelly make it back before the end of the season. Could be a useful 6th inning guy for then next year

I'll go with "Pivetta has adequacy between his legs." The kid's a competitor with guts. He and Dugo are on the same FA schedule and I'd be looking to trade Dugo and re-up Pivetta. I don't want to pay Dugo what it'll take in money and years to keep him. I also don't want to hold onto him in a non-GFIN year, especially if the RS go over the LTT and all we get for him is a R4 pick. Pivetta has put up ERA+ numbers of 103, 91 and 107 in his three full years here. He's an average P who can throw innings. That's an excellent No. 4 or 5 SP. I'd be willing to go to something like 3 years/$36M for NIck. (I'm very bad at predicting contracts, so that might actually be low. I'm interested in what others think.)

I was not necessarily for resigning Pivetta, but I’ve come around to it. One thing I’ve loved about him this year is his flexibility. He was good in the pen… and he accepted it. Seems like a team-first guy.

Seems like a team-first guy. Pivetta really has changed the narrative by his response to a changing role this year. Pissed most off with one comment in May, then won everybody over with a dynamic performance out of the bullpen. I would try to extend him based on the balance of his work since coming to the Sox.
