I’m of two minds on Abreu: on the one hand, he is not coming in with that much fanfare, and we’ve only seen a little, so I should be skeptical. On the other hand, he really has looked so good at the plate that I can’t resist high expectations and hopes.

I'll take that over 30% K rate, 5% BB walk, Plus Power anyday

Yoshida/Duran/Verdugo/Abreu.
Somebody's got to go, unless the Sox plan to stash Abreu in AAA again next year.
Especially with Anthony (ANOTHER LHH) coming on like gangbusters.
The balance doesn't look so bad in total, if you look at Duval/Reyfsnyder/Rafaela as RHH, but there isn't room for 7 OF next year. What is the right balance for 2024? Who stays and who goes (assuming there isn't some big trade and a big-time OF isn't coming in from outside the organization - which doesn't look likely.)

I’ve loved Crawford this year. He is a great #5 if the front end is better (I think he nay never be more than a ~5 inning guy, so we need a few guys who can relieve bullpen stress).

I did and it sure doesn't match what I have been seeing. He looks like a legitimate MLB regular to me.

I guess he never destroyed the minors at any level, but he put up a consistently strong 120-130 wRC+ in the minors every year from 2021 on. This year in particular, 16% BB rate, 20%K rate, .264 ISO were all very impressive in AAA.

K-BB%'s in the single digits. wRC+'s between 120 and 130. They're pretty good numbers!

I've really missed this version of Masataka that we've seen in recent days.

If the starters could have pitched like they have in the last week or two a few weeks earlier it would've spared the bullpen from getting driven into the ground and this season might have ended up a little differently.
On the other hand, if they had had this offense all season they might be coming up on 100 losses by now.

He hit in the 240's at AA and he hit in the 270's in an incredibly easy park to hit in in AAA. So what would he hit in the majors? If he isn't hitting then he will not be walked as much. He looks like a MLB regular to me so far. But I don't trust that I am seeing the real Abreu.

Crawford just falls apart in the fifth and/or sixth innings Fall apart a bit strong. He lost his command a bit, but he didn’t give up hard contact. I’ll take this performance every time.

Rafaela almost had that 2-run double. On a dry track he might have had it.

I am cool with raining out the rest of the season.
Add: I’ll take the total silence for the last 1/2 hour to mean we all agree.

And the Red Sox actually look like the worse team this weekend. So much work to be done this offseason.

Sixth straight series loss and seventh of eight, barring a weather miracle. I guess we're tanking. Will Flemming announced that they had already lost five straight series "for the first time since... April of last year." Really, that long ago?
They actually lost six straight in April-May 2022.
