They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Orioles are looking to clinch. Sox should be able to oblige. Maybe theyll probably have a bigger celebration at the Sox expense this time than when Robert Andino ended the Sox 2011 season.
Meanwhile the Sox have clinched last place and a losing record.
Cant wait for all this crap to be over and see who the Sox hire and what they do this offseason to fix this mess.

Okay, enough is enough - time to win bosoxnation his money more i have thought about this, i am convinced, that, yes, it is a big sum of money to win. But what kind of dollar amount needed to be bet to win that much. 77 wins, i think, was the over. i don't gamble much, certainly don't do fan duel and the like, but i am somewhat familiar. I am kind of inclined to think he had to lay some serious wood to get that dollar return. I can't imagine that bet would yield more than 15%. It really isn't that risky a bet. Maybe he will clarify or, in his absence, would anyone else care to opine ?

You really should never bet on your team. You already have too much riding on them doing well. You want to bet against them if anything. Emotional hedging. I bet a lot on the Dodgers in the 2018 World Series.

Tigers get to Cole Ragans and sweep their double header. .5 game difference now, although they own the tiebreak.
This is setting up nicely for everyone to get really mad when we split this series.

Because Cleveland and Detroit (picks 8 and 9) play each other the final series, we will pass one or both of them if we can manage not to win another game. We control our destiny for the pick.

I finally gave in and joined a betting site. I need to place a bet to collect the promo money and after watching the Sox play so poorly lately, betting against them seems to be the obvious choice. I can't bring myself to do it.

I'll be interested to see how Sale does tonight. The Orioles have absolutely pounded him all year

When you're condescending on the internet, you always run the risk of making a post like this in response to someone that made enough money as a professional gambler to retire in their 20's.

Don’t take my post as condescending. That wasn’t the intent at all. I’m sure you didn’t make your gambling fortune betting against your favorite teams, however. I’m guessing it involved playing cards rather than sports gambling?

Hopefully, if it was cards, you took down Hellmuth a few times. LOL. (actually think that guy is hilarious)

having grown up in the 70's, the Oriole's were a force to be reckoned with. However, given the last 20 years or so, it just doesn't feel right, us chasing them.

I know Cora is staying. But there’s no way we can bring back these coaches

Did Cora just name Sale the 2024 opening day starter? Apparently, there isn't going to be any significant starters added this winter. I wonder if the next CBO agrees with that

This Cora stuff is weird, the more i think about it. I think being a baseball lifer must be good. He wasn't that great a player, has been OK as a manager, what gives ? Doesn't seem that irreplacable.
