Bruins 2023-24 Season Thread

Good point. I am a little on the fence about Lindholm. But that was a really strong game from him. The way he landed on Bennett’s leg seemed a little bit suspect. Took one of their key guys out at least but I feel for Bennett Nah. That was incidental. McAvoy's was pretty dirty, even if I don't believe he meant it to be anything near what it was, but the Lindholm/Bennett thing was clearly an accident.

Four games for McAvoy. Seems bit harsh, but knew something was coming.
Gryz and Forbert both hurting.
Sounds like we'll be seeing Lohrei.

It seems to me that Carlo has taken a leap this year
Lohrei just did great late on a PK

I jinxed the team with the positivity, tie game 2-2 all of a sudden Carlo on ice for first goal and then takes a minor within 5 min of that post, I remain the fat god of jinxes

Marchand is really getting under Klingberg’s skin
Swayman is a stud and the team made the SO look easy. Great win

Shootout win! The Bs and Cs are making up for the failures of the RS and the Ps.

lmao leafs fans want Marchand suspended, never seen a bigger group of babies since the late 2000s/early 2010’s Montreal fans
Beat them, have thousands of them cry on the internet for a bruins suspension. Clockwork.

Clockwork. I just logged on here because of that. Twitter is flooded with this crying. Didn't get to watch the game, but have now seen the play. Dude literally skated into Marchand's path and they're crying it's a slew foot. What morons. I have had issues with stuff Marchy has done in the past but there is nothing to this one.

Down 4-3 halfway through the 3rd. They have had a very bad last period and a half, if they turn the tides and scrape out a point I’ll be impressed

Bruins ended up giving up another one then pressed hard. Got one back. Had a couple penalties called and then abused the officials for another lol

I missed the Anaheim game (not sure if that was worse, heard it was bad), but this third period is absolutely putrid. Wotherspoon looks like trash, shattenkirk looks cooked, Pasta makes a nice shot, then does his wooden leg dance that is supposed to be skating, loses it, trips the guy, game over just as we empty the net. come into the third 3-2, lost it 5-4, 3 gooals in ~3 minutes. Ullmark didn't look good during that stretch either. Frustrating game to watch tonight. Mediocre effort second and third.
Carlo did look great in the 2nd though. He's seriously stepped up his play this year so far.

Shattenkirk has been pretty good this year imo Nah. He and Forbort is a pretty weak pairing. Better than what's happened with the injuries, of course. But the defense at the start of the year was a strong top 4, very weak bottom 2, but Forbort does well on PK.

Shattenkirk’s advanced numbers are also pretty good from what I can see, so it’s not just the eye test he’s passing. Sick pass to Poitras last night Tbh I think some ppl complained when they signed him and they just want to stick with their take. Same thing goes with JVR. Some bruins fans who were skeptical are starting to come around on those guys though I’m usually not a big Forbort guy but he’s been huge on the PK

Nothing to be excited about, but they were signed because we didn't have much cap, didn't move enough and had to fill a roster and we decided to do it cheaply with vets. Whatever we think of that, it is what it is and they were fine for the money they got, in a vacuum. JVR has been worth more than his cost so far, if maybe his contributions have been overrated by some. He's been a great value pick anyway. Honestly, Shattenkirk has still been worth his salary too. And I don't know how you'd replace him on the right side. But he's still just not that good.

Gotta a little hairier than it needed at the end. But the W.
My own unconventional take on the three stars:
!. Swayman. I don't think we're quite at the point of asking if he is in the discussion for best Goalie in the game. But I think we're close to it.
2. The 4th line. You could see it everyttime they were out there. They titled the ice in our favor. Best line in the game, with a rookie and two guys who didn't make the opening day roster. So impressive.
3. The D corps. All of them. I thought all 6 played well. Mitchell, who I think was pretty much a disaster early int he year was tremendous tonight. Contributed to the first two goals, created a couple of other chances, had some big clears, no big mistakes that I noticed. Even Wotherspoon was solid.
Honorable mention to Poitras who looked great all night again And Marchy with the clincher.

They legit may have 2 of the best 5 goalies in hockey. Swayman is in fact pushing for that title of best in the sport, he’s just been sensational Also with the way Carlo has taken a leap and Lohrei has looked they may have the best top 4 in the sport too. Gotta find a taker for Gryz when he gets healthy

Gotta find a taker for Gryz when he gets healthy 2 of the top 10 l'll totally buy. Top 5 I can't go with, but again, I think Swayman is getting into that convo. I don't think Loire is a top 4 D-Man just yet. I can see taking it slow with him this year. But I'd love it if they moved Graz (who has been pretty good this year too)

Probably had something to do with him trying to go between somebody’s legs at the offensive blue line and it leading to a goal 30 seconds later lol

I thought the play for Lohrei would be to pass it over to him but Shattenkirk wasn't there. I don't know if Lohrei would have passed to him or if he still would have lost the puck, but KS really screwed up by disappearing from the offensive zone on that play. Don't know what he was thinking. No, I am not saying that because of the earlier discussion of Shattenkirk, because other than that I was very happy with him tonight. Just that play was bizarrely bad. Again, don't know if it ultimately mattered but I was watching it live and pointing at him, like "what you doin, bro?"

I get why he dipped to get back, lots of Stars up top there I mean, the Stars had the puck briefly so he was trying to get back. But the puck never got out of the zone and the Bs got the puck back. He went too far backward and didn't get back up into the zone when he needed to. You can see Lohrei briefly look that way when he gets the puck and pressure is applied to him, but there is no one there. I'm not saying it's the worst play ever or anything. Just he needed to get back there and maybe the turnover, and ultimately the goal, don't happen.
