I think they drafted Milton to have an example for Drake how not to play the position. Because the worst elements of Drake Maye are basically Joe Milton. Edit: in actuality, Milton is a decent developmental fit for Van Pelt’s system. Milton isn't a fit for any NFL offense. He's just like Cunningham, heck maybe worse. 6 years in College at two major programs. Here's one stat that shows how bad he is, 38.6% completion percentage on passes 10 yards or more. Leary or Pratt were much better fits for Van Pelts offense. Yeah man. This is why he wasn’t a second round pick. He sucks right now.

10 UDFA's. Usually one sticks on the roster. I wonder which one. No kickers yet. The last guy sucked.

I am very excited for Polk and Baker to catch passes from Drake Maye. Almost ALL of Polk and Bakers’ production over the last two years came on big boy routes in the intermediate and deep outside the hashes. They got almost no manufactured touches in terms of screens, short crossers or slants and were both very productive.

Reiss saying NE had an offer to move up to 32 but Buffalo chose to deal with Carolina instead.
With Legette and Coleman going next before NE traded back, his assumption is that 1 of them was the target (and may have had both graded higher than Polk).

** CORRECTION: Yesterday I said Wallace had Pressure/600 PassSnaps of 18. It was 22. Not sure what I did there. I apologize. **
Also, there is some disagreement about his weight. Penn St says 328. Combine says 314. PFF says 341. My guess is he dropped weight for the combine, 314 is correct, but his playing weight is in the 320s. My guess is PFF transposed the last two digits. That's a complete guess though.
Caedan Wallace RT Penn State, age 24.0
Drafted: 68 MDB: 178 ROB SAYS: 5th
ranks among OTs Height: 6'4 7/8" (17th), Weight: 314 lbs (52nd), Wingspan: 82 5/8" (61st), Arm: 34" (46th), Hand: 10 3/4" (90th) 40-Yard: 5.12s (75th), 10-Yard: 1.73s (84th), Shuttle: 4.96s (14th), 3-Cone; 7.73s (54th), Vert: 31" (81st), Broad: 116" (96th)
PFF Pass: 359 snaps, 72.8 pass, 1 sacks, 1 hits, 11 hurries, Press/600 = 22 PFF Run: 311 snaps, 67.1 run, 69.1 zone, 59.9 gap
Pass Pro vs Michigan: playing RT Penn St OL vs Ohio St: playing RT
* Has played RT almost exclusively. Short with large hands. The rest of his measurables are average. Combine was good to very good except the Shuttle which was poor. He seems to know what to do. He does well against power. He has some difficulty moving backward quick enough against speed rushers forcing him to open up too fast. You can see in the videos he is just barely hanging on, albeit against very good college competition. A few analysts think he should move to OG. I would start him at OT and see if he can hang in.

Layden Robinson OG Texas A&M, age 22.9
Drafted: 102 MDB:156 ROB SAYS: 5th or 6th
ranks among OGs Height: 6'3½" (30th), Weight: 302 lbs (13th), Wingspan: 81 1/2" (79th), Arm Length: 34 5/8" (90th), Hand: 10 1/2" (86th) 40-Yard: 5.09s (86th), 10-Yard; 1.78s (64th), Shuttle: 4.75s (55th), 3-Cone: 7.75s (59th), Vert: 26 1/2" (36th), Broad: 111" (92nd)
PFF Pass: 401 snaps, 61.2 pass, 1 sacks, 5 hits, 10 hurries, Press/600 = 24 PFF Run: 289 snaps, 69.4 run, 74.2 zone, 57.0 gap
Texas A&M OL vs Miami: playing RG Texas A&M OL vs Auburn: playing RG
* Has played RG exclusively in college. Very light for an OG. He may have dropped some weight for the combine. A&M lists him at 315. Wings/Arms/Hands are very good size. Good 40 and Broad Jump. Other tests were average. In terms of performance he was very good in 2021 (overall PFF 81), poor in 2022 (56), and just ok in 2023 (66). He gave up a lot of pressures this year. A&M primarily ran a zone scheme. A few analysts have suggested he may do better in a gap scheme, although his PFF scores for zone/gap do not support that.

I certainly hope it was more they wanted the 5th year option. Couldn't get it, so traded down and still got their guy. While also allowing them to get Baker, who is likely gone by the 5th. I'd take Polk over Legette and Coleman. Ricky Pearsall is the guy I wonder if we missed out on. Kinda questionable picks by both Panthers and Bill's in my opinion. Legette is kind raw like Mingo last year and Coleman isn't a speed guy after losing Diggs and Davis

Charles Turner III LSU, age 22.8
Drafted: NDFA MDB: 271 ROB SAYS: 5th
ranks among OC Height: 6'3 5/8" (55th), Weight: 303 lbs (50th), Wingspan: 83 1/4" (98th), Arm: 34" (95th), Hand: 9 3/8" (18th) 40-Yard: 5.06 (85th) *, Shuttle: 4.62s (54th), 3-Cone: 7.88s (33rd), Vert: 31" (79th), Broad: 109" (86th), Bench: 22 (22nd) * see below for comment on 40 time
PFF Pass: 471 snaps, 80.2 pass, 1 sacks, 1 hit, 7 hurries, Pressures/600 = 11 PFF Run: 292 snaps, 65.1 run, 68.5 zone, 58.2 gap
LSU OL vs Alabama: playing OC LSU OL vs Florida St: playing OC
* Last 2 years, played exclusively OC. Prior to that he played some OT and OG. Height/Weight average. Long Wing/Arms. Small hands. Testing was all over the place. Agility was below average to average. Jumping was good. He injured his hamstring running, so we don't have an official 40 time on him. There are references to 5.00 and 5.06 but not sure where they came from. Very good in pass protection, although Daniels probably helped a bit there. One analyst thought his anchor looked weak, but I didn't really see that. It certainly wasn't a plus, but it was not awful. Run blocking could use some work. Has difficulty sustaining blocks due to lack of strength. I like him better than Jake Andrews.

Do I did a more in depth dive on the undrafted guys, Turner and Fenwick still stand out. Victor has everything you want from a CB besides he runs the 40 like an average LB. Maybe he can land on practice squad and bulk up to become a specialist guarding TEs. Too bad, everything else is great, but 4.7 something speed at CB is horrible. Warren is basically a blocking TE, but bar is rather high for guys like that. Jay Person is a small edge guy with crazy stats, was injured so no testing. He'd have to be fast at his size, maybe like Teddy B. he can convert to LB. The rest I don't see anything that stands out.
They really should start looking at adding some veterans. Edge and RB stand out as rather week. Given they've acted like Bill, I expect they'll continue to add over the next few months.

Bourne Douglas Smith Polk Baker
Reagor Thornton Boutte
Are they keeping 6 wideouts this year? They don’t with Thornton? Any chance they just eat JuJu money?

What about Osborn? Where does he fit (if at all) in the depth chart?

Sure I think 6 WR is in play, if it's warranted. Bourne, Douglas, Osborn, Polk, Baker should be basically locks. So Boutte, Thornton, Reagor and JUJU are fighting for their lives. I'm certainly hoping Boutte shines if that legal crap doesn't take him out of the running. Be interesting to see Thornton with QBs with rockets for arms, same basically for Reagor. Given young QB, planning for the future I don't like Juju chances, but he certainly has the talent. I don't think Juju contract does anything to help him, only how he plays.
It's football so you need to always add injuries could make these decisions easier. Can't rule out a guy like Boutte being placed on injured reserve to keep him and crap like that.

Asset. Then they should have picked guys like Leary or Pratt. Closest comp for Packers QB picked for Joe Milton is Brett Hundley, they dumped him after two year. I liked Hundley more. For that model to work you need QBs that can develop and build value. You have to go watch game tape to understand what I mean. Game tape, not highlight tape. Maybe after training camp he understands and becomes open to trying TE.

Chris Simms loves the pick so it makes me less ironically bullish on him

Honestly, basically forgot about Osborn. Not sure he’s a lock 3.1m in dead money and it’s only a 1 year deal. Juju has 12.2m of dead cap if he’s cut.

New coaching staff brought him in, they didn't sign Juju. They took over 6 million in dead money to release Parker, who again they didn't sign. We have plenty of cap space, plus it removes 2.67 million in dead money next year. Whoever they are, it will be about the best players and not dead money. Add in rumors about dumping Juju for months, that's why I said that.
