If Hanrahan goes to the DL. They could move Doubront to the bullpen and add Webster to the rotation.

Nifty play by Napoli. Not the smoothest play i've ever seen at first, but it got the job done.

It is critical to end this game in the bottom of the 10th, to save Dempster for tomorrow's start.

It's May 6. Doubront is not getting moved to the bullpen.
I will throw up everywhere if I have to watch another Aceves start for Boston.

Melancon really isn't all that good either. No offense, but like Temple said, I don't much care what his ERA is. He wouldn't be part of the solution here. I wish they hadn't traded for him while his value was at its highest, and then dumped him when it was at its lowest, but that doesn't make him a good pitcher.
Tazawa and Uehara make a solid back end of a bullpen. Mortensen, Wilson, and Breslow are serviceable in front of them. Farrell just needs to be willing to lean on Tazawa, Mortensen and Wilson for multiple innings from time to time. Tazawa is averaging less than an inning per appearance, which is ridiculous for a player with his profile.

I believe Aceves would be able to start tomorrow on regular rest. Stop kidding over serious stuff.

Bullpen usage over the last week (keep in mind that the bullpen was a man short until tonight):
Mon - Wilson (18), Miller (10), Breslow (12), Hanrahan (20), Mortensen (23, through 10th inning) Sun - Uehara (17), Tazawa (1), Miller (12), Mortensen (19) Sat - Miller (12), Tazawa (21), Uehara (19) Fri - Wilson (48), Mortensen (28) Thurs - Miller (24), Tazawa (11), Uehara (15), Hanrahan (14) Wed - Wilson (27), Mortensen (21) Tues - Tazawa (24), Hanrahan (17)
Miller has pitched three straight, so he is likely unavailable tomorrow. Mortensen is also likely unavailable. Should have Breslow, Uehara and Tazawa (assuming he doesn't pitch tonight) and perhaps Wilson.

Not sure how the Red Sox can't even make contact against this stiff reliever, but that would have been a nice spot to have Ortiz hitting.
Farrell really is a terrible in-game manager.

Ok. Dempster is warming up... bad news for those of you with tickets to tomorrow's game.

The Red Sox better win this one, because tomorrow is a guaranteed loss.

Salty takes the art of making good pitches look bad to a whole new level.

Dempster, tomorrow's starter is heading to bullpen. With Dempster heading to the pen, I am going to assume they already know that Hanrahan is heading to the DL. Since if Dempster pitches, a roster move will need to be made to call up a starter. That roster move would be Hanrahan. I believe Aceves would be able to start tomorrow on regular rest. That thought just made the evening complete.

That was a gutty performance by Mortensen. He deserves a win here.

Farrell really is a terrible in-game manager. It's a wonder the Blue Jays were willing to give him up for a crappy shortstop they didn't even want.

Right forearm tightness for Hanrahan. Will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

The dirtiest of water tonight. Props to Mortensen, who really came through tonight.

" by Mortensen. " -----------------------
he kept them in this strugle. Star of the game. Steven Drew notwithstanding!

Salty, Middlebrooks, Drew.
Just as Farrel planned all along.
So glad not to have to read the "gutless" posts tonight.

Does this mean we don't have to see Aceves start tomorrow?

That's a truly fantastic win.
And the best news - no Dempster tonight. That means no Aceves tomorrow!

Dempster is good to start tomorrow even though he warned up tonight? Where is Webster at rest wise?
