Enmanuel Valdez with a diving play to help preserve a Cooper Criswell shutout win. Just like we were predicting all winter long.

just amazed at this pitching staff. stoked at the performances.
It's like being embarrassed to be rich near poor people.

Despite all the injuries this team looks like a strong WC contender but it feels like the media hasn't quite picked up on it yet. Surprising that given the size of the NE market that there hasn't been much national attention for the rotation or Wilyer putting himself in the ROTY conversation

Looking at the reply, it looked more like upper forearm than wrist for Cooper. What am I missing ?

Random fairly pointless stat: Jarren Duran is on pace for 767 PAs, which would be more than anyone has had since Jimmy Rollins in 2007.

Surprising that given the size of the NE market that there hasn't been much national attention for the rotation or Wilyer putting himself in the ROTY conversation David Schoenfield today gave the Red Sox a C+ in an article wherein which he described what he was doing as follows: “Let's check in on all 30 teams and hand out grades, which we've weighted against preseason expectations while factoring in how and whom they've played.” www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/40045251/mlb-2024-season-first-month-grades-all-30-teamsI am guessing he just randomly generates the grades and hasn’t actually paid attention to baseball in a long while.

So April is gone. There is obviously a long way to go, but it is no longer just the first week or two of the season. 32 games is 20%. and I think 1 we have seen enough games so that preliminary observations can be made
The pitching is obviously way better than I thought it would be. Even with 4 starters out, today someone named Criswell (who I had never heard of before spring training) helps them throw a shut out. While I can't imagine they will be this good all season, and I am still nervous about getting some of the injured guys back, I think there at least has to be some optimism that the pitching will be better than it was last year.
The offense has probably not been quite as good as it was last year yet, but has been decent. The falloff is due in part to some of the injuries to people like Devers, Casis, and O'Neil. There is hope they could get better if there are no more injuries and some of the guys hitting under .200 either get replaced or start hitting a little better.
The defense has not been good. Please don't let Rafaela get hurt as we do not appear to have another decent defensive shortstop. Let's hope Grissom is decent at 2nd and Duran continues to play a decent centerfield.
To be where they are record wise with the number of injuries they have had is surprising. If they get some of these guys back without losing anyone else, maybe they aren't the last place in the division team they were projected by most people to be. Maybe it will be a fun summer.
Here is hoping.

Clearly not a cold weather hitter but the strides he’s made defensively can only be termed as “gargantuan”. He’s gone from complete and total butcher to somebody who is ok, it’s a testament to the work he clearly put in
