its time. this league can't afford those kind of missed calls when the tech is there to smooth out the error bar.
This should be done next year.

Dom got hosed, that pitch was outside, but just a terrible sequence between the stupid bunt, the ump and the Ceddanne having no plan at the plate.

The one positive is Grissom seemed to control his AB and his 1st two AB's today have been good.

It's sad how much better the O's are than the Sox It's funny, because on paper their team doesn't look that much better; for example, our Pythagorean record is just 3 games worse despite the injury apocalypse. We just can't seem to beat them so far.
0 for 2 on barrels so far today, getting hosed with the bases loaded, and meanwhile making errors and walking guys to gift them bases loaded... just awful
Edit: Even the O's flyouts to LF are two-run doubles lmao

it really seems to me our defensive positioning burns us at least once per game

Well… I tried, guys. Off to do something more rewarding with my day. At least I got Caitlin Clark vs Cameron Brink tonight.

Hamilton has legit been playing well on both sides of the ball this month, and it’s a situation where he’s currently outplaying both the guy they gave the contract extension to as well as the dude they traded Chris Sale for, which might make for some tough conversations on Jersey Street in respect to playing time. It’d be something if the much maligned Renfroe/JBJ trade were rescued by Hamilton, especially because - at least in my eyes - Binelas was the target, as a 3rd round power hitter who had gotten talked about as a first rounder headed into his draft year. Renfroe had a 2.4 WAR season (2022) for $7.65mil and a 0.4 WAR season (2023) for $11.9mil. The problem with that trade wasn’t cashing in on Renfroe’s 2021 season or the prospects that were acquired, it was coming off an ALCS appearance and turning right field over to a washed JBJ and a second baseman who had never played right field before. When all is said and done the big get from the Benintendi trade might be Gambrell; from the Renfroe trade, Hamilton; and from the Vazquez trade, Abreu. Kind of makes the case for a quantity-over-quality approach.

They’re doing a Jud Fabian tribute in between innings here at Camden, and it’s feeling slightly targeted to choose this series for that minor league highlight.
Appropriately booed by me.

We got a lot of catching up to do with the top clubs. The good news is we are making strides.

Just came in from yard work to see the score - checked the box and noted the so familiar story of 0-4 RISP and 8 LOB.
The difference in Boston and Baltimore's records is indeed reflective of the quality of the players on each team.
Sad. Back to the garden.

They’re doing a Jud Fabian tribute in between innings here at Camden, and it’s feeling slightly targeted to choose this series for that minor league highlight. Appropriately booed by me. As a reminder the sequence of events here was:
- Fabian had a handshake agreement with the Orioles to sign for $3 million - Red Sox jumped them and drafted Fabian anyways, offering him $2 million - Fabian rejected the offer, and then in the draft the following year the Orioles signed him for $1 million - Fabian now has middling numbers in AA as a 23 year old
So I'm not quite sure what the brag is here exactly, but in any case I don't think it reflects particularly well on either the Orioles or Fabian.

Ooh, a home run here and if the Red Sox can just re-load the bases the tying run will be in the on deck circle!

Romy has the fastest sprint speed and they don't tag him on a medium fly ball. It doesn't mean much in this game, but it's a small detail that they don't get right.

Escalated to 1-8 RISP and 10 LOB. A Memorial Day game we will not want memorialized

I would really love to know what percentage of one-out situations with a runner on 3rd the Red Sox have struck out. It's gotta be at least 85%, right? Happened at least twice today.
