"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it." Life. One thing leads to another and before you know it, you are dead.

Always used to see his name and think in my head "(Bill) Mueller? Mueller?" correct pronunciation be damned.

Interesting article on Kristian Campbell's power surge, with quotes from the Greenville hitting coach suggesting that Campbell and the team consciously sacrificed his formerly elite in-zone contact rate to hit the ball in the air more frequently J.P. Fasone: “I think that was part of the conversation with him is that we’re going to try to hit the ball in the air more and kind of look to do some more damage than he has in the past,” Fasone said. “That might come with striking out a little bit more. But because his strikeouts were so low, he had a little bit of room to give and still be within league average or below that. So I think that was part of the conversation with him and I think we expected them to be a little bit higher. But we’ll kind of trade the production for a few more strikeouts.” www.masslive.com/redsox/2024/06/fast-rising-red-sox-prospect-kristian-campbell-added-power-bat-speed.html

Isn't that a similar story to Jarren Durans development?

Isn't that a similar story to Jarren Durans development? Eh, not quite, but I get where you're coming from. At Long Beach they had guys using a cookie cutter stance and mechanics to slap the ball in play. He got to the pros and went to a stance and swing that were more natural. With Campbell I think this is more of a philosophy/approach thing.

Nick Yorke promoted to Worcester. That really has a "social promotion" feel to it more so than an earned one. Maybe a clean slate gets him back on track.

The WooSox are pretty shorthanded at the moment with everyone up in Boston, and we're nearing the point where mid-season promotions lead to the AAAA guys getting released anyway. First-round pedigree or not, they have to make a 40-man roster decision on him this Fall, and 4 months of AAA might be more meaningful? I don't know. Just a guess.

As pointed out in the Yorke thread by a tweet from Ian from this very own site his underlying #s are pretty solid. Solid BB and K rates, his EVs have improved and he's doing better at hitting velocity. The box score stats aren't there so far this year but it's not like this promotion is out of the blue or completely unwarranted.

Is it stupid of me to be concerned that Mayer is playing 3B and Paulino is playing SS tonight? Couldn't they easily be swapped? Has this happened already this season?

Bleis is out of the lineup once again. Is he still dealing with the mouth issue or is this something different?

Mayer has played SS full time since he was drafted. Him getting a game at 3B is more like them getting real about the likelihood that he's going to be sharing a roster with Trevor Story in the near'ish future.
