They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Playing the worst team in the league stinks because if you lose any games at all you feel like you underperformed. But realistically a sweep is unlikely, and in a four-game series a split is probably the most probable outcome (also true if you're playing the best team in the league).
Also working against the Red Sox (by this completely irrational line of thinking) is that the White Sox have lost 13 in a row. What are the odds that they get to 17? By the same taken I felt okay about playing the Twins earlier in the season when they had won 10 in a row because what were the odds they'd be able to make it to a 13 game streak.

This series is pretty key IMO. Have to win at least 3 because they have the Phillies and yankees coming up after this. Those are tough series. If there's any hope to be had for meaningful baseball come Sept this seemingly endless run of .500 ball has to quickly improve.

I can see the Sox losing 3 of 4 and then somehow have a winning record against the Yankees and Phillies.
In reality, I think the Sox take 3 out of 4 here. The White Sox are truly terrible. They're what I thought Oakland would be.

Despite the White Sox being truly horrific, I'm not going to lose sleep over not sweeping here; but anything less than winning the series is unacceptable

Isaiah Campbell was optioned to AAA off the injured list.
After it had been been a while since the team had a go-to garbage-time long reliever (Phillips Valdez in 2021, I guess?) the Sox have both Chase Anderson and Brian Keller to mop up innings late in blow-outs. It seems unnecessary to have two of those guys in the same bullpen - is keeping both a hedge against another starting pitcher injury?

Likely want to keep them around until at least the bullpen day Sunday. Could see them move on from one of them after that, but makes sense to have both with a bullpen day coming up.

Pulling the glass out a bit, the Sox really need to go 5-5 over the next 10. How they get there, I don't care.

Whenever whoever gets back from the DL/IL, Dom gets to stay, IMO. He isn't great, but he (last night's brain farts not withstanding) looks like a baseball player. Not a great one, but still.
