He made a decision, which a manager is paid to do. How is making a decision "over-managing," exactly? Other than you didn't like his decision? Exactly that, he made a decision to pull a guy @ 89 pitches that they weren't really hitting to put in a guy who can't find the plate. It's not a difficult concept to understand man. Sometimes he gets too cute with his decisions, sometimes we applaud it when it works out, but it doesn't mean he should be beyond reproach when it backfires. "Too cute" suggests it was unsound -- like there was a prohibitively correct alternative. I'd argue 89 pitches & 3rd time through is plenty sufficient to give a (previously struggling) pitcher the hook. "Too cute" would also have been said by the naysayers if he'd left Pivetta in to give it up.

Not enough evidence, but my rather large gut tells me he got underneath the tag.

Jarren Duran the most electric man in baseball (okay maybe if I’m being unbiased Elly has a good case but still)

Gotta love late game drama in an otherwise pretty sleepy game.

Brilliant move by Cora getting fortes up instead of brujan. Brujan is a better hitter and way faster which will matter in the 10th

Am I the only one who still gets nervous watching a standstill flat-footed OF one-hand the catch (especially with the game on the line)?
"Ok, boomer."

Still can’t believe we got that to extras. Jesus Sanchez was hobbling out of the box on his double - wonder if they pinch ran for him there that anyone else would have scored on that play

Mookie's arm was marginal when he first moved to RF. Abreu's arm has taken a leap forward this year over last. That said Abreau's arm was very good last year and Duran's arm isn't weak. I genuinely appreciate the effort to boost my hopes, but I think the gap is a little wider than that - and Duran's arm is not a ton better than Ellsbury's. I've been wrong repeatedly, and by ENORMOUS margins on Jarren, so I'm hoping the trend continues. Are you sure about that ?

"Too cute" would also have been said by the naysayers if he'd left Pivetta in to give it up. It was unsound. You let Pivetta go back out there and you have the pen up and "IF" he gives up a hit or walk you pull him then. He was cruising the entire game, he's one of their only innings guy(Besides Houlk so far) , you don't cap him @ 89 pitches, it does your pen and your team a disservice. I'll concede the previously struggling part, but this is exactly the team to continue to build his confidence on versus saying that's good enough only to watch it backfire.
All that being said, I'm surprised, happily so they escaped that 9th. I guess NY hates the Marlins more than Boston because I think he was in before the tag on his shoulder, but we were fortunate no angle really could confirm it,
