Even after signing with the Yankees, I still love Youk. That said, I'd still consider booing every time he steps to the plate this season. He was here here long enough to know the drill.

In my opinion he should get a standing ovation in his first AB, and then treated like just another Yankee every time after that.

In my opinion he should get a standing ovation in his first AB, and then treated like just another Yankee every time after that. He got a standing ovation in his final game with the Red Sox and received another when he returned with the White Sox. It's enough. He chose to wear the Yankee uniform. He shouldn't be surprised if he gets a negative reaction when he returns to Fenway.

I never booed Johnny Damon and I won't boo Youk. Sure wish he signed with somebody else though.

All he did was take the best deal available to him, and he had already been tossed out by Boston and they had no intention of bringing him back, so I don't blame him a bit - I'd have done the same thing. After the way he played in Boston the only thing he deserves from the fans is respect.

So, does Padilla play the role of Joba when the Red Sox face the Yankees and Youkilis in 2013? Padilla is a free agent and won't be back with the Sox.

8:04pm: The portion of the deal involving the Diamondbacks and Indians has not been finalized, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com (via Twitter).
7:50pm: The deal sending Shin-Soo Choo to the Reds has been completed, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com (via Twitter). The Reds will also receive Jason Donald in the trade, Heyman confirms (via Twitter).
The three-team deal that was being worked on had Shin-Soo Choo and Jason Donald going to the Reds, Didi Gregorius to the Diamondbacks, and Drew Stubbs plus an Arizona pitcher going to the Indians, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Patrick Corbin or Trevor Bauer will likely be the Arizona pitcher going to Cleveland, Rosenthal tweets.

Ken Rosenthal @ken_Rosenthal Source: #Yankees sign Youkilis, one year, $12M. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) At least this ends the talk of him coming back here for another year. He'll be attempting at playing 3B again most likely so I say he's ineffective the first three weeks and injured and ineffective the rest of the way.

Arizona gave up Bauer for Sipp, Didi Gregorius, and Lars Anderson. The D'Backs must really hate Bauer's attitude, because that is a terrible package.

Bauer reportedly had frustrated Diamondback coaches with attitude problems, and he was getting a rep as being "uncoachable." Perfect time for the Indians to jump in and grab him (provided it was Bauer and not Corbin that they got).

If there's anybody that can help Bauer with his attitude problems and make him "coachable," it has to be Tito.

And Mickey Callaway, his pitching coach, drew raves as Cleveland's minor league pitching coordinator. So it's a good situation, I'd say.
They have their work cut out for them, though. The Cleveland pitching staff is really, really bad.
EDIT: Confirmed that it's Bauer. Also, Lars Anderson is part of the deal, he's headed to AZ, so good luck to him. Lots of former Red Sox first basemen on the move today.

As someone who really wanted to see the Sox make a serious push to aquiring Choo, I have to say that at that price, I am very happy that we did not. Alarming walk rates and possible bad attitude be damned, Bauer is an excellent get by the Indians.

I have to admit, if we could have gotten Bauer in return, I would have strongly considered trading Ellsbury (I'm not saying that we could have; Choo is worse defensively but has had fewer injury concerns and a more consistent track record).

Alarming walk rates and possible bad attitude be damned, Bauer is an excellent get by the Indians. Agreed. I thought Choo would be a perfect fit on this team, but I assumed the cost wouldn't come close to a Bauer caliber pitcher, even considering the "attitude". If Ellsbury just stays healthy and plays to career norms, he should command a similar prospect around the deadline from some desperate team. I know the Beltran-Wheeler trade isn't necessarily the year to year norm, but human factors can make usually intelligent GMs really overestimate the value of a rental.

Pretty pathetic that the Red Sox couldn't get Bauer. A bit of an overreaction (is Colorado pathetic too?), but I can agree that it would've been nice to get in on this.

According to Olney, the knock on Bauer is not just attitude, but also that his fastball was low 90s, not the expected 95.

I think it's worth noting that Choo was not traded for Bauer as Arizona did not end up with him. It seems the real question should be could the Sox have moved Iglesias in a package for him?
On another note, I don't care that Youk went to NYY, I would've boo'd him regardless where he was, always felt he was a pompass ass. When he produced, it was all good, but it was time for him to go because his skills are gone but he's the same attitude and probably worse since he's probably always in a bad mood about his production. Go suck in NY Youk.

The imbalance of this deal for Arizona shows how badly they wanted to rid themselves of Bauer. There have been rumblings in Phoenix for months that Bauer is potentially a serious off-field and clubhouse problem. He thinks he is the next great white rapper, has not shown a focus on pitching, has "his way" of doing everything and has been extremely confrontational with coaches. His act did not sit well with veterans on the team. You can imagine how this plays with Kirk Gibson.
