I’m sorry but did the guy just create a second account to agree with himself?

Rafaela is still way too aggressive at the plate for MLB pitching. He’s made progress lately in Double A, but major league pitchers would eat him up right now. He’ll be a good player someday, but he won’t be there right away with his current skill set. To make that claim is laughable. Another one that doesn't have a clue. I will stand by my claim and die by it. You can all come back later and thank me if you want.. What do you even mean by "aggressive"? His hand-eye coordination is in the 99th percentile. There are outliers and he is certainly one. Rafaela does have good hand-eye coordination. But his over-aggressive approach means he swings at pitches he shouldn’t. His special hand-eye coordination means he makes contact with the bad pitches, but it’s generally poor quality contact on the trash pitches. When he learns to lay off the bad stuff, he’ll be a great player. Until then, major league pitchers will eat him up. The difference between AA and MLB is huge. Let him play before calling him a perennial all star.

The Red Sox seem destined to sit somewhere in the 12th to 15th spot in the tankings (tank rankings). With 35 games left they’re 20 games out of the top spot. Obviously not coming close to that. I think their ceiling is that of a 10th pick (lottery results non-withstanding). They’re currently 6.5 games back of the Marlins there. Realistically, I don’t think they’ll fall that far. I think this team is too streaky good to bomb the rest of the year. They’ll have series where they suck (Toronto), but they’ll have series where they play a bit of spoiler (current Rays series). They’ll probably end the year playing just below .500, where they have been for most of the year. They’re also getting healthy finally. I think it’s too late for them to make the playoffs, but with 26 of their remaining 35 games against teams in the playoffs or in the hunt, they can make some noise with a hot finish. They’ll end up in the late lottery and we’ll be sitting here praying for the lottery gods to smile on us.

Two home runs for Brainer Bonaci. The dude really put on some muscle this year. I like him as a prospect.

I think Allan Castro needs some love. He was the Latin America Position Player of the Year for the Sox last year and he’s continued to hit well in the FCL. He’s only 19, so he’s not super old for the level and he’s 15 or so ABs away from being 7th in the league in OPS. If Bleis isn’t taking CF reps from him, he definitely qualifies.

Portland needs to clear a roster spot with the Kavadas and Guerrero promotions. The easy move is send Rangel to the DEV list. They have Scott and Marrero to catch. There is the question of corner infield playing time. Kavadas is 1B/DH only. Binelas, Northcut, and Potts are also rotating through 1B/3B/DH but Potts is the odd man out to the bench there.

Paxton’s day is done after 0.2 innings. That can’t be good.

Niko Kavadas is the 9th ranked 1B prospect in all of baseball according to MLB Pipeline. Casas is #1 but that’s more obvious.
Yorke has fallen (I think) to the 6th ranked 2B.
Mayer is the #3 SS behind the #2 and #5 overall prospects.
Bello is the #7 RHP.

I think that’s now all three of his home runs on offspeed stuff since his promotion. His potential is really going to come down to his ability to hit the fastball.

Roman Anthony with his first XBH with a double.
Also a rare bad outing from ERC.

Marvin Alcantara was pulled from the game after a stolen base in the third inning. Might have gotten banged up.

FCL and DSL games now appear in the MiLB app. It’ll be interesting to see how up-to-date the boxes are as the games advance.

Two doubles today for Casas. He’s doubled in four straight games and has 5 total in that span.

Where’s Stephen Scott on the list? He’s done nothing but hit since he got promoted to Portland. Homered again today. He’s never had a K% north of 20% or a walk % south of 13.9% in a full season. Currently hitting .269 with a .934 OPS in over 100 ABs in the high minors. His struggles in Greenville this year can be attributed partially to a career low .216 BABIP. Unless he’s an absolute butcher behind the plate, that definitely deserves a top 60 ranking at least. Have there been any reports on how he’s looked at catcher this year being there full time?

Vazquez is a loss, no doubt about that. But the improvement that Hosmer gives them over Cordero/Dalbec daily at 1B plus the improved offense from Pham is greater than the downgrade at catcher to me. It remains to be seen whether that plays out, but on paper they are overall a stronger major league lineup than they were a week ago. When it comes to the farm, #16 turned into # 16, 26, 56, and 57. Easy improvement there.

Adding five top 30 prospects over the course of the draft and the trade deadline has really done a lot for the depth of the farm system. Let a few of them develop into the high end prospect types and this will be a top 10 farm system sooner rather than later.
