I just hope this translates to a better strike zone for our pitchers.

A testament to the improved Sox depth though. Still not where it needs to be but going the right way. How is us giving away a top 15 prospect for literally nothing is a great testament to our depth?

1 year/$4.5M plus 2022 $6M option w/$500K buy out. He's guaranteed $5M so does that bring his AAV down to $2.5M? Either way, still a solid signing. Guaranteed money divided by guaranteed years. So it's a $5M AAV.

Would be awesome if someone here is better at Spanish than me (or has time to type the whole thing into Google Translate), but I think this is saying that the Panama winter league has been cancelled and they're just going to send an all-star team to the Caribbean Series. As noted above, Jonathan Arauz and Eduardo Vaughan were set to play in the league. PANAMA WILL BE PRESENT IN THE CARIBBEAN SERIES 2021 The Panams Professional Baseball League, PROBEIS, reiterated its commitment to attend the Seric del Caribe 2021 in Mazatkin, Mexico, despite the postponement of its season of Championship 2020-2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In a letter sent to the Commissioner of the Caribbean Baseball Confederation, Juan Francisco Pucllo Herrera, the President of PROBEIS David Salayandia informed the Commissioner the guidelines that the Government of Panama issued to contain the pandemic, the which prevented the realization of their season in the usual time, but I reiterate that there will be a league in 2021 with the 4 teams. However, PROBEIS aware of its responsibility to participate in the Series Caribe in Mazatlin, Mexico, which will take place from January 31 to February 6, 2021, I confirmed that I will go to the tournament with a team made up of national and foreign players who were on the rosters of the 4 teams that would participate in the recently canceled season. The team will enter a “BUBBLE" prior to the trip to Mexico following the protocols of health and carrying proof of NEGATIVE TEST of each of the ‘Members of the delegation, in addition to committing to follow the guidelines of biosecurity that the Mexican authorities determine, as well as all those willing by the Organizing Committee of the Caribbean Series. In the next few days we will be informing the start dates of the "BUBBLE", as well as the list of the manager and coaching staff that will represent Panama in the Series del Caribe Mazatldn 2021.

Am I the only one who has an issue with leaving guys out of the HOF because of steroid use when: 1. Baseball basically encouraged and profited off these players using steroids 2. Basically, the vast majority of players in the era were on them we just know about a small percentage of them. You can be on steroids and not look like it. It's at least the two of us.

RyanDempster @dempster46 Just heard that most teams are willing to discuss most players on the roster for trade....as long as it makes sense for the betterment of the club! Also hearing that those same teams are looking at all free agents as a possibility to improve their rosters! -per source So most teams are willing to make a trade or sign a free agent if it helps their team? Cutting edge inside insight!

I think we went to the game the night before, but the first I remember was when I was in the OF bleachers when this happened.

I guess I'm missing something...why are we talking about losing a pick? Even if we sign every free agent available we wouldn't lose a pick until the 2022 draft. I think that is in reference to signing a FA that had received a qualifying offer, which would require forfeiting a pick You're correct. I had a brain fart apparently and completely forgot about signing players who received a qualifying offer.

There's really no point in arguing this, RJP. This is the same guy who victim blamed rape victims in the Kobe thread. He's not changing his mind anytime soon.

Predictions from the board with a little more than 24 hours to go? My guesses: Traded: Matt Barnes, Kevin Pillar, Mitch Moreland. Not traded: Christian Vazquez, JD Martinez, Martin Perez, Xander Bogaerts, Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley, Jr., anyone else. Traded: Barnes, Brasier and Vazquez (I think Vazquez gets dealt right at the deadline and we like the return) Not traded: The rest of the organization *Reads the bolded* You must be new here.

My guess is that they'll seed by using the WP of the last 162 games of teams that don't make the playoffs this year.

ill add there is not a no trade clause in the contract, which is good for the Dodgers long term financial health. A trade with eating some of the salary is certainly possible. Yeah, I don't know about that. Mookie will get 10-5 no-trade rights when he still has 8 years left on the deal.

Do I think this too long of a contract? Let's see....kids just learning to read will be in college before it's finished.
Yes. I think it's too long of a contract.
