I think a trade is imminent or else the report may not have come out unless it was leaked to drum up interest since spring training is close to an end.

Without going into too much detail because a BA subscription is totally worth it: Lopez: advanced hitter with questions on his defense. Vaughan: was toolsy when he signed but tools have ticked up since then. Gonzalez: raw power with a feel for hitting Santana: solid hitter with upside for power, chance to stay in CF Feliz: plus raw power Jackson: potential to get up into the mid-90s, needs work on secondaries Marcano: chance to stay behind the plate, also has hit well in games Bonaci: small and wiry but chance to stay at SS; needs to get stronger Romero: smooth defense at SS W. Gonzalez: labeled as one of the biggest risers from the crop, profiles as a starter with a three pitch mixPaulino: no standout tool, but has hit well in games Reyes: has a high-spin rate curveball and has worked into the lower 90s with the FB Winkelman! Gonna a have a field day with his name, especially if he "rises" through the ranks. I like the Vaughan comment as well.

To add on to carmen’s report, Cora stuck around to watch Feltman, Mata, Houck and some of Schellenger, so looks like he was trying to get an idea of some of the up and coming arms in the system. Dombrowski stayed for the whole game, but only ever watched the AAA/AA side, never really wandered over to the A ball side. I posted a slow-mo video of Feltman here, though im guessing it’ll be quite grainy on a computer screen rather than a phone: That made my arm hurt just looking at the slow-mo. He'll be nasty if he stays healthy.

Chavis could also get some AB's at DH. It's quite possible JDM opts out after this season and the Sox don't re-sign him.

Carson Smith: derelict Eduardo Rodriguez: Heat of the moment in a big gameAnd yes, I recall the Smith comment not sounding nearly as bad in context as well, although I'm not 100 percent certain. We all know it should not even have come to that....so, you can add in the next line, Alex Cora: brain fart

Babe Ruth was sold but yeah, Babe Ruth. Maybe we should have gotten a couple of prospects as well. Anyone know who top prospects were for the Yankees? Maybe we should have gotten a PTBNL, like Gehrig.

Seriously? He didn't succeed at A&M because why, he wasn't given a chance with two other highly touted QB's recruited around the same time? Give me a break. All 3 of those QB's were given a chance. And yes, I know all of them transferred. If you think he'll be like Mayfield I have some swamp land to sell you in Florida. Nice QB to watch in college, especially on a loaded offense like Oklahoma, but it's absurd to think he'll accomplish anything close to what you think he might. Okie hasn't played a defense worth a sh!t. Maybe Texas was the best one. Let's see what he does against Alabama. That's the closest thing to an NFL team there is. Fact is, there is a chance he goes undrafted. He's no Flutie or Mayfield, I can assure you of that. He struggled as a true freshman starting QB in the SEC and so he can't play? The height issue is a big one and could very easily prevent him from succeeding at the next level, but you're also clearly underrating him if you think he's got no shot. Also, the idea he'd go undrafted even if he wasn't already committed to baseball is wild. He'd go in the first three rounds. We shall see. He has another year of eligibility left but it sounds like he's a better baseball prospect. If he chooses to play football again next year you will see where he gets or doesn't get drafted in the NFL. It won't have anything to do with his baseball status unless he tells everyone he will sign and play baseball, which he probably should. Like I mentioned in a prior post he might have a better shot at playing receiver than QB at the next level. I don't see why all the negative feedback because some think he actually will have a shot at being a starting QB in the NFL and/or be drafted in the first round. THAT is not happening. I don't see it and I am nearly certain no one else will either, unless it's in pre-season game.

HBench player in the NFL. He's a system QB, on par with QB's from schools like TTech, Wash St., etc. He has some good talent around him as well. He won't be a high draft choice. He just doesn't have the size or the arm strength. One of those would have been helpful. What is your thought on his MLB future? He may give that a shot. Most of this is pretty false and honestly kind of ridiculous. Calling him a system quarterback is the most absurd, unless you still somehow believe Baker Mayfield was a system quarterback, because Kyler was actually better statistically than Mayfield was last year. He definitely doesn't have a strong arm in the vein of Josh Allen or a big-bodied guy like that because of his size, but he can make nearly every throw and has really good accuracy/anticipation. He's not going to be a first round pick because despite the special tools, as mentioned by some other people he'd be the shortest qb in the NFL, and he's a decent amount slighter than Russell Wilson, but he's extremely talented. He should still 100% go the baseball route, but he'd be a genuine NFL prospect as a quarterback if he chose to declare. Seriously? Friends who follow college football more closely than I do: how legit is Kyler Murray? I know he's a Heisman finalist but we all know that doesn't always translate. He would immediately become the shortest QB in NFL at 5 ft 10 in (might actually be 5 ft 9 in). His size makes it hard to envision him as an NFL starter. I think he may be athletic enough to try and make it as a wide receiver, ala Julian Edelman.

Appears that the Mets and Mariners are moving toward a deal. Ugh! Just when I was feeling hopeful, it ends with a thud.

He, in theory, is a bit old for that circuit (as are Castellanos and Vic Acosta, who are dominating as appropriate, which is not a bad thing), but of course there are extenuating circumstances. He's pitching about as well as we could've hoped. If he's in camp this spring I'll be pumped. How many MLB pitchers have an AK tattooed on their hand, right? Probably any that like to play poker.

"he body is mature for his age, but considering he’s still 17, it is reasonable to wonder if growth will force him to third."I do not see any indication of this in the video. Same thing was said of Xander all the way up until he was already in the majors. Also, in Alex Speiers write-up, it says: has shown a consistently strong feel for hitting with the potential for at least solid power and speed. He may not have the power potential that Xander had in the minors but I think he could easily have the same pop, though X-Man had his highest slugging pct this past season, if/when he makes the big boy club.

I like that he's now looking towards home plate with his eyes open when releasing the ball. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Kinda looking there. Or at the mascot. Or that girl two rows behind the dugout. Definitely the "meet me at so & so place after the game" two rows up. "Bring some friends".

That kid Howlett looks like a steal. I really hope there vision is executed regarding building the bullpen through these last couple of drafts. I hope we find just one starter also. Agreed. I've been following his progress. He's had a good year. Has shown a lot of power. Once/if he cuts down on his K's...watch out. As far as a starter goes our only hopes right now are Houck and Shawaryn. The HS kids are still a ways away.

Taking into consideration how slowly Dalbec started (I think he was Mendoza line for the first couple of month) it is impressive what he has done recently. He surely would have made the mid-season top 100 prospect lists if he played like he's played since June or July or whenever he put it together.

It'll be interesting to see if Gorst can continue his dominance. His scouting report sounds like he's nothing to be excited about. He also had a great last season at GTech. 3 earned runs in 49ip!

Durbin Feltman has moved on up to Salem. ![](https://media.tenor.com/images/289eafd4c9fdb471ad71b092ae87cfd7/tenor.gif) We may yet see Feltman (he really needs a nickname) up with the big boys. There's 4 weeks left so plenty of time for him to impress and be bumped up to Portland and then Boston.

Howlett 85 ABs .346/.436/.568/1.004 3HRs 12BB 21K As I mentioned in another thread I am looking forward to following Howlett. If he cuts down on his swing and miss we may have something of very good prospect. We'll see next year, hopefully in Greenville. I'd love to see a Mookie Betts type trajectory lol. Ok, that may be pushing it but you never know. Odds are we are going to hit on one of these later round or IFA prospects soon. Also, weird line of the day goes to... J arren Duran is rapidly becoming my favorite player to follow. Lowell is now the first box I check. ADD: Think about this triple, I don't recall ever seeing that, to left field no less: Ian Cundall Ian Cundall 2B Jarren Duran (‘18 7th rd pick) w/four hits for Lowell. Has really impressed in looks this year. Tall, athletic frame. Plays extremely hard, plus-plus speed. Uses speed to put pressure on defense. Two infield 1B tonight and 3B on ball that LF cut off before warning track.
I completely understand. I felt much the same when Donnie Sadler and later Jacoby Ellsbury we’re first year rookie mlers. I’d be interested in seeing, albeit SSS, how many, if any, of the CS were picked offs as opposed to straight steals or blown hit and runs. Still base running errors to be sure.
Not to go off topic but one player whose development I'm following is Brandon Howlett. He still has a bunch of swing and miss in his game. If he fixes that part of it, watch out. Edit: Sorry I had bold my reply. The quotation marks didn't work for original quote.

Welp, don't love that. Seriously, someone talk me into this. How are 10 Nathan Eovaldi starts worth six-plus years of Jalen Beeks? We didn't have a spot for Beeks as we got too many lefties in the rotation as it is.Edit: You know Dave, it's win now if you have a shot, farm system be damned. Maybe he sees it as a 2 year window as some others do.
