Eduardo Lopez up to .255 . Walking a lot, not striking out a lot (1-1 ratio). 7 triples. 16 steals. Great spot to be in when considering his numbers to start the year Same goes for a few other of our DSL bonus babies: Eduardo Vaughan Gabriel Jackson Wikelman Gonzalez To even things out, some others that started out strong have tailed off a bit.

Don’t know if this is accurate. Yeah, unless he asked to go back, wouldn't this be like a first such demotion from GCL to DSL?

Only one scout's opinion? I'd rather wait to hear from SP scouts or some others before he's labeled "special" around baseball circles. I really hope he is and no doubt he can bring the heat. He's also a college arm, which is also a plus as far as advancements go. No one is looking at this one tweet and thinking he's a 100% lock to become Verlander but if a professional scout has the takeaway that a player is special then it's definitely cause for excitement, especially given draft capital and price. Special isn't a word they throw around super lightly, at least not in my experience. I'm not saying he's not, but Gammo quoting or saying it makes me roll my eyes every time. Not sure if you used to read his Sunday columns in the Globe or not, or similar statements after he left. Like I said, I'd like to hear more than one scout's opinion.

I know he has good stuff but Melancon has already failed twice here. I mean REALLY failed. Would fit right in with this crew. He was only with them once for the worst possible 2012 season and his peripherals were better than his career numbers. Dumping him so quickly was really stupid. WHAAAATTT! Who am confusing him with then? I would have lost my stack on him doing two tours in Boston.

Means is the best arm, but we have Price. Sweep would be sweet. A sweep is almost necessary...just to shut some people up for a few days, until the best of the division games start.

Eduardo (wild thing) Vaughan is being more consistent after a slow start. Just hit his 2nd HR of the season. At 6'3 he may still be growing. Once his coordination catches up to his tools....yikes! Dreams of him and Casas batting after Devers......

Sox need to move Machamer down a spot in the rotation. If you all are interested in making money on milb then pick against the Sox the day after Shugart pitches. It's incredible how bad they've been the following day.

Has he grown at all? Anyone know? Still so young. I've heard he has put on a few pounds. The reports I've heard indicate that he his fastball is getting a lot of weak contact and lots of GBs. I haven't yet seen him in person. He's more than holding his own at age 18 in Lowell. He also only has 4bb's in 19ip. That's pretty freakin good so far for someone his age.

The two high profile J2 from last summer each 3 for 4, with Lopez getting first HR I saw that Vaughn hit his first HR (BA up to .260 now after a slow start) but didn't see that Lopez hit one yesterday.

Based solely on rankings, the next three best players left after Keane at #11 are picks 37, 38 & 39 before we get into the 12-16 range. The staff here should really consider highlighting (in pink?) the players that have already declared they will not sign (like picks 37, 38. 39). It's noted on the "predictions" posts as "projected not to sign" but for those that click on draft history page and see highly rated prospects without any info might hold out hope. Let's help crush those hopes.

Feltman had a rough start to the season and had a couple of really bad outings. Since May 8th (or so) he's pitched better though he is still walking people at a higher rate than expected. His last 13 games have gone better. 17ip, 15k's, 11bb's (this is crazy) and 2 earned runs. Not too shabby. If he cuts his walks down a bit then you can expect a promotion. Not trying to crush the guy, but I disagree. 15 strikeouts (21.7%) and 11 walks (15.9%) in 17 innings isn't good. Getting a low ERA because of a .195 ERA when his peripherals are mediocre-to-bad doesn't have me any higher on him. And his batted-ball numbers aren't great either during that stretch: 57% FB rate, 19% LD rate. On the other hand, the fast-track college reliever who goes in the 3rd round is a myth. He's probably playing a level higher than he should be and deserves credit for battling it to a draw. I think the aggressive placement and certainly the aggressive promotion schedule people were talking about put more pressure on him than was necessary. I did post that the 11bb's "is crazy". Not crazy good, crazy bad ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Yeah, I didn't even think of the part of him starting the season in Portland. At the end of last year I expected it, as did a lot of other people on here.

Bit of a nit pick with Fangraphs, but I don't understand Feltman being ranked lower than Lakins. Both of these guys have been the biggest disappointing development for me this year.

Bryan Gonzalez hit his 4th HR today Did I miss something or was a HR taken away from Gonzalez? I seem to remember him hitting a HR one game and then hitting 3 the next game. Was I smoking the really good stuff at the time I checked the box scores?

Roedhal is ranked #467 by Perfect Game. I think the Sox renewed their subscription to PG and not the other sites.

Red Sox select Jaxx Groshans, C, Kansas. Wow, I was (half-jokingly) going to say we need to draft a catcher soon. Oh well, what's done is done.

That's great news if it means what I think it means. Was hoping one would make the jump to the GCL, after many of the young kids didn't make the hoped jump (Northcutt, Decker) Not even Devers or Bogaerts skipped the DSL. It would be great if López started in Fort Myers, but it doesn’t seem likely, to me at least. Lopez is listed on the DSL Red Sox2 roster.

My world is ready to be rocked by Eduardo Lopez. I think Lopez will come as advertised, which is coming out hitting. I'm looking to see how Winkleman and Vaughn progress, as well as Jackson. I expect pretty good seasons out of these 4 prospects.

I don't ever remember the farm system starting out so poorly. They must have the worst combined won/loss record of any team. Can't wait for some of the injured to return and the draft to pass so they can start short-season baseball.

How the hell is that a fair system? Arizona has $16,085,000 and the Red Sox have $4,781,000. No wonder teams are tanking now. Not only that but the Sox are one of the teams that basically help fund these bottom feeders yet some don't spend the money but pocket it. Such an embarrassment.
