A pitcher with good control does not walk a lot of batters. This thread may be the only place on earth right now where this actually has to be pointed out.

CJ Wittmann @cjwittjr 2h2 hours ago Loved Kopech's FB and how he attacked hitters. High effort delivery, landing. Secondaries and command are a ways off. Electric arm. #redsox Love hearing from people who've actually seen him pitch. Thanks for the info.

Mike Antonellis @seadogsradio 3h3 hours ago Moncada was in the original lineup, but a late scratch, we don’t know the reason. Latin pride??

So, to recap: when he has a start with a bunch of walks, it's because he has great command. When he has a start like tonight, it's because he has great command. Gotcha.

Kopech does lose control from time to time and walks one or more batters Or four, Or five...plus a HBP and two wild pitches...but who's counting?

You're also basing that entirely off of a box score and a tweet by one person who didn't actually see Kopech pitch tonight.

Who's the last position player to get to MLB this quickly for us?

I admit, it is very hard to hit the ball when the pitcher throws it to the backstop.

we still have Moncada and Benny...yay And Devers and Kopech and Groome ... Wait a few months. But in all seriousness, I'll give Dombrowski credit for showing some restraint, which I wasn't sure he was capable of

I'm very well aware that the Yankees don't have all the money in baseball. Hard to tell that from your posts.

They're not going to sign Harper, Machado and Kershaw. Please come back to the real world. Why not? They'll have the money. Most of the big contracts will be off the books and they'll be able to surround the expensive mid 20s free agents with a young inexpensive up and coming core. Because they're not the only team in baseball with money and they're not going to spend over a billion dollars on three players in one off-season. The days of the Big Bad Yankee Boogeymen have been over for awhile. Yes they have resources but they're not going to build some fantasy superteam.

Maybe Fernandez instead of Kershaw... There is literally 0% chance that this is their roster in 3 years.

I'm not even talking about whether the Pomeranz trade was good or not. It was a fair trade. You're completely missing my point.

Dave Cameron also defended the As return by saying, "have you seen how valuable relievers (like Montas) are now?", when he himself has been touting the idea that there's a reliever "bubble" right now. Dave is smart but he will change his opinion to suit his argument.

If Pomeranz had a better couple of starts, I feel like a lot of these Hill posts wouldn't have happened. I said it at the time. Feel free to go back and check. So, no, that's a straw man.

One other factor: Pomeranz is a better pitcher with a better contract than Hill. So maybe Hill comes at a slightly smaller price, but that is fitting since he's worth less. You're making my point. He is worth less, which is why you wouldn't have to give up what it took to get Pomeranz. Thanks for agreeing with me. And it's not slightly smaller. Its amazing how much Espinoza has fallen in esteem around here now that he's in another organization.

But wait a minute, everyone told me the As demanded Espinoza for Hill? How can they add Reddick and not get one prospect as good as Anderson? Huh?! It's not at all obvious that the Dodgers package is worse (in total) than Espinoza. Montas and Holmes (especially) are legit prospects and Cotton's not bad either. Aside from that, the Sox get Pomeranz for two additional years than they would have for Hill. So you would trade Anderson Espinoza for Montas and Holmes? (have to take one guy out to account for Reddick). No, you wouldn't. I don't know why people are pretending what I said is controversial. It was a joke to think the As ever thought they could get Espinoza for Hill.

Maybe the Sox could have waited the A's out, sure. What do you mean "maybe". He was just traded for less than Espinoza. They could have waited. Its not debatable.

After I see what the Dodgers gave up, I'd have to guess that a similar package for the Red Sox would be Kopech, Johnson and someone equivalent to Montas who we don't have (maybe Barnes) for Hill and Reddick. But wait a minute, everyone told me the As demanded Espinoza for Hill? How can they add Reddick and not get one prospect as good as Anderson? Huh?!

And last year it was the opposite with Abad at .860 and Layne at .418. We're talking about under 20 innings for each. It's a good thing we traded for the 2016 version of Abad and not the 2015 version. We all know relievers go up and down from year to year. This year Abad is a major upgrade over Layne as a lefty specialist. Unless you can give a specific reason as to why the numbers have done that then you're buying into random statistical fluctuations.

Was it really necessary to improve our LOOGY who never gets used correctly? I hope they gave up nothing for him. It's a huge upgrade as lefties can't touch Abad this year .163 average and .458 OPS. Layne is .259 and .688. And unfortunately we have a guy running the show who thinks what's happened "this year" is what matters.
