Okay so you don't like his choice of word. His overall point is correct. His point is he wouldn't mind the Sale talk if our system wasn't gutted by past trades, not that a sale trade would gut system You don't think it would be easier to make a Sale trade if we still had all the guys we sent to San Diego? That is what he's saying. Tell me why that's wrong.

They won't if they trade for Chris Sale. His point was without the previous deals we could've done a blockbuster and still maintained our prospect capital. You can't say a system was gutted by past trades when it's still top 5. Okay so you don't like his choice of word. His overall point is correct.

Getting creative here. How about trading much more modest packages for someone like Braun, Bruce or Beltran and then trading Mookie straight up for Sale? Okay I know I was making fun of Temple but I really would stop rooting for them if they did this.

I wouldn't mind these Chris Sale talks so much if Dombrowski hadn't gutted the system so much to acquire Kimbrel and Pomeranz. It's the perfect example of why you don't make trades simply because "that's the asking price." When a guy who's truly worth it becomes available, you have fewer resources to get it done...and even less than that if/when the trade is made. Just stand pat already. Haha last I checked we still had top 5 system. They won't if they trade for Chris Sale. His point was without the previous deals we could've done a blockbuster and still maintained our prospect capital.

Must've been tough during the 2004 playoffs when you had to turn off the TV every time Curt Schilling and Keith Foulke pitched.

Swihart, E-Rod, Devers, Kopech would be my 4-1 offer. I would love this. I just don't see it happening without Benni. Would you do this for Quintana? No. Take any one of the four out and it's reasonable.

Do people from New Jersey count as real Red Sox fans to begin with?

If this trade happens, I will not root for the Red Sox so long as Dombrowski is running this team. Lol. More room on the bandwagon for me to stretch my legs.

“@ken_Rosenthal: Asked a source how strongly I should pursue possibility of #RedSox acquiring #WhiteSox’s Sale. His response: “Don’t waste your time.”” BuryTheHammer's Navigating Tread Deadline Chatter Guide says to ignore this tweet. Ken just wants your attention.

Man if CWS trades Quintana to LAD and Sale to us they are gonna get a haul.

Definitely seems like either Sale or Quintana are moved today. Dodgers are hot on them as well. Gonna be a fun/awful few hours.

I'd honestly rather flip Pomeranz than include Rodriguez and given Rodriuez's shaky year, Pomeranz may have more value. Not sure it makes sense for CWS to acquire a guy with 2 years of control for Sale who has three.

Also, left field is not a "hole." It only seems like that because the rest of our lineup is so good. A Holt/Young platoon being your second worst spot does not keep you from winning a WS.

"Acquiring one of the five best starters in baseball doesn't move the needle because we only have four good relievers and not seven!"

Please stop with the "Sale won't help them much" nonsense. You guys are smarter than that.

“@philgrogers: Yoan Moncada viewed as unlikely piece in Chris Sale talks. Potential redsox package leads w/Andrew Benintendi, Eduardo Rodriguez.” See, this I can get behind. Devers is probably a sticking point though. If they'll take Kopech over Devers I would do it. Sorry Deepjohn.

Yeah no matter what happens I can't be upset about acquiring Chris Sale. He is so good and so valuable.
My question is if we were gonna do this why the #### did we make the Pomeranz deal?

I think it depends on how Chicago views Erod. If he's a big piece for them we might be able to do it without completely vanquishing the systen.

How much more valuable would Beltran be over Benintendi? I cannot even fathom trading for him unless they're giving him away which they won't be. Unless Benintendi is a White Sox...

Uh, obviously the wild pitches are intentional since he has elite command, he's just trying to get inside the hitter's head. Only convinces me even more that he's the greatest pitcher we've ever seen.

To rent a 39 year old part time player? My guess is nothing you would miss. He's hitting .304 with 22 HRs. He's a rental but I would think they would be asking for something of value. I was responding to your "I can't imagine what it would take to get him!" comment as if we were talking about the 2005 version of Carlos Beltran. They will get something for him, sure, but nothing of significance. And the fact that it's intra-division is irrelevant as the Yankees are clearly throwing in the towel.

Define to high? #1 CF prospect in the game by BAmerica and baseball america is pretty darn good at identifying ML talent. If the Chicago GM trades Sale or any other cost controlled starter with promise, he should be fired Baseball america highly values proximity to the majors and Benintendi is close to the majors. They also aren't exactly perfect when it comes to identifying talent. Andy freakin Marte says hello, along with others who were their #1 overall prospect over the years who never did anything at the big league level. Regarding Chicago's GM being fired, how about the Josh Becket trade for the Marlins? Seems to have worked out well for them as well as for us. You'll notice the examples I used are all "case closed" so we don't have to wait a couple years for definitive answers. I can cherry pick examples of prospects who turned into stars too. It's a pointless exercise. Talk about what specifically you think is overrated WRT Benintendi if you want your argument to be taken seriously.

Looking for the veteran RH hitter: Buster Olney @buster_ESPN 4m4 minutes ago Among the teams talking about a Carlos Beltran deal: Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Indians. Can't imagine what the Sox would have to give up let alone to a team in the same division. To rent a 39 year old part time player? My guess is nothing you would miss.
