This is the scene where he stops the bullets midair.

In more than 100 PAs, he's striking out in less than 6% (!!!!!!) while hitting with an Isolated Power of nearly .300! That combination is pretty unique. It's not unique for like, a 16 year old playing with little leaguers.

How much faster do people want to see Benintendi promoted? He's going to be in Portland within a year of being drafted at this rate. Is that not a rapid ascent? He's not being challenged at his current level. Every game he spends there from today forward is a waste of his development.

I predict that Benintendi will be promoted before his hitting streak ends. I like it...I like it a lot.

Dougie's Going Deep Tonight is what really deserves an oral history.

Last time I checked it's not exactly toasty in Boston in April/May, which is where Benintendi is going to be spending his next 6 springs (at least). I think it's okay if, y'know, he gets a taste of it before he's playing games that count.
I will say I don't think this is as big a concern for the Red Sox as it is for some posters here.

Jose Vinicio went 836 PA between homers Huh, that's funny, I seem to remember someone here telling me he'd turned a corner because he hit well for like a 6 game stretch and the chances of that being random, well, I don't even need to say..

Two top prospects, Albies and Swanson, promoted already after crushing their respective leagues for a few weeks. Not crazy to think Benintendi will be next.

I must be hallucinating cause I could swear I'm seeing Chris Young starting against a righty again.

quote from Speier's piece today:
In the previous graph Speier mentions Benintendi getting 70 grades on his hit tool, so I'm not sure if this evaluator is talking specifically about that or his overall player grades (I think it's the former but it's sort of unclear).

Let's just say Yoan Moncada can work on his defensive concentration and leave it at that for now. I think his footwork is terrible, particularly on the pivot. He'll make an incredible outfielder. You should go back and read what people said about Cano's defense in the minors. Hell, for the first few years of his MLB career even.

Kimbrel will be fine. And it's still a bad trade.

Wouldn't it make more sense to give Bogaerts the day off against a lefty? The dropoff from Bogaerts to Young vs a LHP is much smaller (Young might even be better) than vs a RHP. I guess you would be sitting Holt in that situation though. I don't know. Like, I'm just baffled as to why, less than 20 games into the season, Chris Young already has like four starts against a RHP. It's enraging.

Devers with another oh-fer but his K-rate is around 16% and his walk rate is 14%, ISO of around 130 (this was before last night's game). And oh yeah, he's 19. I'm not concerned about him in the least, yet.

Eh I guess they would've just brought in a righty anyway.

Why not PH Young here? Is Farrell's brain broken?

BTW, if not for his restrictions, Neo could easily have gone 6/7 or more innings in each start so far just based on pitch count. Dominant and efficient is a helluva combo.

I can fathom starting him for those reasons. I hate it, but okay.
But not pinch hitting for him in a 2 run game (in which he already has 3 at bats) in the 9th because it might make it harder for him to hit the next two games is either 1. you're a terrible manager or 2. you're asleep at the wheel. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it's #1.

Why is Chris Young starting against a righty again? It's worth having an automatic out in the lineup just so he doesn't get rusty?

Uh, don't you know that Hanley and Pablo were the two worst players in baseball last year because we had too many prospects?
