What time do you think the first pick for the Sox will be? Some people are getting work done.

I'm glad our former prospects got my memo to have a great year! It does indicate our scouts did a great job evaluating the talent this past year!

Just another point of context: Renfroe ranked 18th out of 24 RFers with 500+ PAs in 2021 by fWAR. Renfroe was talked up as a good Right Fielder all year, especially with all of his assists but now I question how that clouded what we actually saw with our own eyes. Thinking about a few key plays from last year: The Austin Meadows inside the park homer that he failed to back up and the messed up plays in back to back games against the Rays in the playoffs when he couldn't grab reachable balls and it almost cost us the series, which includes the one that bounced over the fence that ended up helping us. He also dropped a ball (!) at a key moment in that key series against the Mariners that was just awful to watch. We had AWFUL defense last year and I was stunned to look up that he was one of the main reasons because his TWELVE ERRORS! No other right fielder had more than 6. So assuming JBJ isn't out there every day, this may be better than I first thought, especially after reading about Binelas. MORE: Renfroe had the LOWEST Fielding Percentage for ALL Outfielders over 100 games last year and had MORE ERRORS than ALL Outfielders. Renfroe would of been better off in left field. As we know right field in Fenway is the most difficult to play. The Sox overall had a very bad defense.

You guys sure bring a lot of knowledge to "our" Red Sox minor league. This is an interesting trade and shocking trade. I can add a little more information about Alex Binelas. When he was in high school he dropped down the draft as most prospects from my state do. Alex wanted to go into pro ball out of high school. He also knows the value of education and building up his "value" in college. When I first heard of him I had to go see him. I briefly only met him a few times. We have mutual people in our lives. Anyways as a player when from I watched him has changed. His big big "knock" was strength. Experience is a "given" coming out of Wisconsin. I do not know if he has bulked up to much. He was really fast out of high school. Now he has a 45 run? Does anybody have a recent video of him?
I hope this trade works out for both teams. I think it is not a good trade. I never will. Renfroe is an upgrade over Avisail Garcia for the Brewers, who were desperate to trade JBJ. The Brewers lowered their 2021 budget, and got rid of a horrible hitter. JBJ looked really bad ALL year long. He's a 4th outfielder making starter money.
This does help the Sox horrible defense.

Just for future reference ALL our prospects need the following: "Command and control need refinement, as does consistency". I just read threw our prospect scouting reports and had a little chuckle after awhile. It is quite true, but all baseball players can get better in those areas. On a serious note. I really do appreciate the insights this site brings on the Red Sox. I wonder if other teams go here. (seriously) I know I would.
I sure do hope Downs keeps improving after making his adjust during the year.

If he starts pitching again the first question is how does he look, because now, in theory, you can find that out. If he's riding a bicycle then it's more than a 4.5, that's for sure. What if he's throwing mid 90's while on this bicycle?

Why is "Roberto" Duran a prospect? He's a retired boxer. In all seriousness I think Mata took too big of a rankings hit. Otherwise everybody looks good to me! As usual time will tell.
Song coming back soon?

Green isn’t signing. At all. Not going to happen. Looks like they should of drafted a easier to sign guy or two as a backup plan. 30 rounds would of helped.

If we don't sign Fabian we can hopefully sign Green and sign more 11-20 guys. I'm never a big fan of drafting guys with a high K-Rate early in the draft. Early 2nd round. I'm not sure if he's worth the gamble. I'm glad he is not our first round pick though. I bet we'll sign him though. Hopefully he'll improve over his past season.

The Sox sure didn't value pitching like the other baseball teams did. Interesting!

I've always liked Murphy, Ward, Mata, and even Shugart. Hopefully two of them become everyday number four starters or better. Brock and Politi I saw as high end relief pitchers. I'm no expert though. Interesting year for the above plus Aldo Ramirez! Not to even mention the guys we've brought in with our trades.

Some international pool money would be nice for Chatham. I do not see the Sox being World Series winners this year, so SS depth doesn't mean as much to me this year.

A little bit? I see that but could coaching and listening can help that. Plus it is sometimes needed.

It is a buy low year on FA's. This can be a big advantage for the Red Sox. I really wonder what a guy like Bauer will actually get and length. I do see a lot of one year deals that will help.

Quick and hopefully not a stupid question. Are there plans of having another International signing period this year?

I am curious what the return will be on a good defensive center fielder. I just wish he was still hot with the bat.

Graham Hoffman, RHP, South Florida had TJ last year and pitched in 5 games as a reliever this year. Signed as a redshirt sophmore with the Sox.

Seems that if they can't sign Yorke at a substantial discount then they aren't signing Jordan which would effectively create a punt to 2021. This would give the Sox more bonus money to move around in a loaded 2021. Gives the Sox more leverage with Yorke.

I gave our first 5 rounds (4 picks) a C. I feel our first two picks are 2nd round value and our 5th rd pick is a 4th rd value and our 4th is a 5th. So an average draft. Now it's time to develop them to higher values. Now lets go big signing UDFA.
