I don't blame Price one bit for this. Not one bit. What a stupid f*cking stadium. If the Green Monster were 3 feet tall, Fenway would be comparable to Yankee Stadium. I disagree, to an extent. His command was iffy tonight, at best. Should they have hung a 6 on him? Clearly no. However, he wasn't #2 starter good by any sane standard. 4 walks in 5.1. Plenty of balls squared up.

Playoff baseball? Not really. We missed Verlander and we really don't know about Sale. Houston is running on 8 cylinders, the Sox are running on 7 at this point in time.

This bullpen is simply not ready for prime time.

I wonder if ERod is tipping pitches again. He was unhittable in the first and now Houston is sitting on every pitch. They are sitting on his fastball. ERod needs better command, or else. These guys can rake.

I'm pretty sure Eovaldi is not the answer for this year. Love the power arm, not the "straightness". Sorta' like Kelly/ Oh well. My hopes are pinned on a healthy Sale and a determined Price. Oh, and the offense should be ashamed. So many bad AB's this series.

Lets just HOPE ther being EXTRA careful with Sale, because of their big lead. I think this is exactly it. This screams "we're in such a good position and we want to have Sale fresh for the playoffs." Cora is someone who thinks beyond the immediate future, and it shows. I think these are Patriots-esque DL stints/playing injuries, to be honest. Not only this, but it gives the Red Sox starters chances to compete for playoff starts. Being extra careful with Sale is a given. Shoulder inflamation for the second time in such a short period is of serious concern.

Best all time seasons too. Ted Williams has had maybe 1 or 2 years better in his career which is stupid good. We are talking Ted Williams!!! Ted considered one of the three greatest hitters of all time by most historians, easy to see why. One big difference between him and Mookie is that when Ted played many players werent year round athletes (had off season jobs), also didnt play versus many other races or ethnicities. In other words not necessarily playing against the best of the best. I still personally consider him one of the gold standards though. Ted played off season ball against Negro league players... he raved about Satchel Paige. Ted was also approached by a Mexican multi-millionaire to play in a new league in Mexico. Ted's mother was French-Mexican and he played ball with and against Hispanics growing up in San Diego. Ted remains the gold standard as far as hitting is concerned. Buck O'Neil raved about Ted as a hitter.

Ok, so this is literally the problem. A culture that can separate those two things is a culture that is deeply toxic, destructive, and broken. This is beyond the scope of what I was trying to talk about. He was talking about the comraderie/chemisty between teammates. Not all 25 plus guys were Aroldis Chapman. I doubt the 2004 Red Sox were all saints. Hello Manny Ramirez. Didn't he have an incident or two or three? But that team was able to get on the same page and handle the game the same way. They bonded. I remember reading about the role Cabrera had in reigning in Manny and Schilling (hardly the most admired man in the world by all) thinking, "OK. This is going to work. Here we go." The team bonded. They were crazy, but united. Unlike the 2011 team Eric referenced. If you want to talk about a toxic, destructive, broken culture, welcome to the sad reality that is 2018 America, but this is not the forum to talk about such things. I'd much rather talk about the Red Sox (complaints and all) because baseball and particularly the Red Sox are uplifting unlike the world I see around me that I'd like to get my mind off of by talking baseball and the Sox. The toxin on the 2011 Red Sox was Carl Crawford. Not surprisingly the Stat forecasters both here and elsewhere lauded the decision to sign the guy. Signing Carl was a pure "by the numbers" decision. For my part I was vehemently against this. The result was not only a monumental collapse in September but the loss of Francona which lead to Valentine. I view 2018 America as a breath of fresh air. After a career working inside the Beltway, I was having serious doubts about the Republic. Now I have hope. Unexpected hope but real sustainable grass roots hope. Just as I do for the 2018 Red Sox. If Eovaldi is for real, I am downright bullish for this team.

I'm re-watching Andujar's field and throw. Charging was not clearly a better choice. so what the throw landed short, it was straight towards 1B, most times the 1B catch and holds on if Bird did not fully stretch out, maybe he would have been in a more stable position, its not like Bird had to stretch laterally Moreland gathers that throw easy. You are right about Bird stretching too far. He had time, the play was not going to be close enough for Bird to go into an elongated stretch.
