Playing Swihart in LF is a short sighted move by the Red Sox and only stunting his growth as a catcher. He got sent down because of his defense and by learning a new position it doesn't afford him the chance to do improve there. Seems like a very dumb move by the FO.

Mookie is on a bit of a cold streak. Hasn't pulled a ball hard recently that I can remember.

Miller is nasty. The Red Sox gave him a life line by making him a relief ace.

I hope for Price's own mental state he comes out at Fenway next time and shoves. Could be a long year at home if he keeps sucking at home

Price has been awful at Fenway

The weather seems to have affected Price's stuff tonight. Not the usual amount of swings and misses.

Nothing like a little BABIP luck going your way

I know the last one ended in a chopper to end the inning, but the ABs being put together by Xander right now are awesome. Laid off two tough pitches got the count to 2-2 and had a good pitch to hit. That's been his biggest adjustment in the last year.

Now he just rubs his gross haircut before the pitch.

Trade Buccholz for anything resembling value. The whole team energy seems off when he's pitching.

So Xander has around a 55% ground ball rate. Hard to see the power we all hoped for coming with such a lack of fly balls. I'm hoping he can sustain a high BABIP with all these ground balls.
Let's see if Buccholz can get some control tonight to limit walks and stay out of the middle of the plate.
I smell sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

Price hasn't seemed terribly sharp, but hes at 13 K's. When he gets his changeup down it is lethal.

Moncada striking out a lot for my liking. Yeah it seems like he has at least one in every game. Meanwhile, Devers can't seem to buy a base hit these days.

I'll say this about Bogie and Betts right now, they look jumpy and impatient. Pitchers don't have to throw strikes to them because they seem like they're up there guessing.

The point isn't that those guys would help right now, the point is that their value (two top 60 prospects and an talented pitcher) was too steep a price to pay for a reliever regardless of how good they may be.
The Red Sox are better with Kimbrel no doubt, just the cost of getting him this offseason was an overpay. Oh well, lets just hope he is getting the bad out of his system now and will dominate the rest of the year.

Without Holt and Ortiz (and to some extent Swihart) the lineup is not very deep at all. Rutledge, CV, and Young just don't give me any confidence out there.

Mookie and Xander are off to some slow starts offensively. At least today they have lacked any real patience at the plate.

According to Ian Cundall, CV's arm is not back to its previous standard but this is not a concern due to his superior receiving skills right?
