Devers to GCL, per Alex Speier. He'll be there tomorrow (Thursday).

That's what I mean. Is Chavis actually going to start playing at some point this season?

1.000/1.000/1.750/2.750. If he gets his batting average and on base percentage up, they'll be forced to move him up the chain.
SSS jokes aside, over the next few years an interesting comparison might be Miguel Sano of the Twins. Both are 3rd basemen with a bat oriented pedigree.
In 2010 as a 17 year old, Sano put up a .291/.337/.466/.804 line for the GCL Twins in 148 ABs and began skyrocketing up the prospects charts.
For those that don't know, Sano is out for 2014 with TJ surgery which is why you rarely hear his name.

Right now I would compare Devers to Adrian Beltre, LHH; RHH, but both are thick, stocky and have power. Beltre showed immediate power when he signed so we'll have to wait and see how Devers develops.

Beltre's whole game is awesome. Haven't (yet) seen Devers play defense, but he is certainly making some errors this year. Still he is 17!! But few play 3rd like Adrian Beltre. Can't wait (possibly this Monday in Port Charlotte) to see both Devers and Chavis. The really neat thing.....is there are some other players on the GCL team that are also interesting!

Nathan (Boston): What do you know about Rafael Devers? He's a long long way away but if everything progresses, what is the potential reward?
Jason Parks on the Top 50: He can hit. I loved him when I saw him pre-J2 in the DR showcase, and every report since backs up my initial thoughts: this kid can rip it.

This is perfect. By the time Devers is ready we'll be having the "Should the Sox re-sign Bogaerts or let him walk and take the draft pick because Devers is ready and represents value" discussion.

Don't know about this. Beltre is very well condition and a work out freak. It has been said that Devers, while a big kid, is somewhat on the chunky side. Wonder what his work out approach is, if he has one.

Beltre is one of the best defensive third baseman of the last 30-40 years.

From what little video I've seen, Devers would seem to have a chance to stick at 3rd. That is something which would be huge for his value.

Beltre's rookie level stats at age 16, one of the top prospects of all time. It is not slight to Devers to say that he is no Beltre. 54 walks to 26 k's for a 16 year old in pro ball is beyond insane. YEAR G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 1995 62 218 56 67 15 3 8 40 54 26 2 1 .452 .514 .307

Would have been no reason to trade for Gonzo or sign Crawford. Could have just signed Gonzo as a free agent after 2011. He was fun to watch. Dropping to one knee and drilling one over the Monster. Going beszerk when VMart would rub the top of his head.

I hated to see both Beltre and VMart leave. However, the Sox got Barnes, Owens, Swihart and Bradley in the draft for losing those two.

Going beszerk when VMart would rub the top of his hea2d. Look up Beltre's interactions with Elvis Andrus. They produce some similarly hilarious results.

With Beltre at 3b, you trade Middlebrooks at the height of his value at Pawtucket (there was lots of interest), and you have Youk at 1b (possibly with better health) until Rizzo is ready, plus Kelly and Fuentes (ideally you trade both of them before their value plummets)

And this has something to do with Devers because.... Who are two people that have never been in my kitchen. I'm most surprised by the triples. For a guy described as stocky, he's had quite a few. The DSL ones might be weak fielding, but he's had another in the GCL.

Agreed, I thought at worst he would continue to be a game changing defender even if his offense dropped off, though I have always been a huge Beltre fan and was stoked when he came to the Sox.
