Tex looked good though and that is a bit disturbing. He had two hits and a long, high drive to the warning track in right center. He also had a nice throw to home plate which whizzed right past the catcher's head, allowing a run to score. Yes. That would have been a bang/bang play in any case. First game jitters perhaps, but you know that he is one of the best fielding first basemen in baseball. If he gets back to the 35 HR. guy hitting .285 with 115 RBIs, he will make that lineup tough, tough. He is also the consummate, plate-disciplined OBP guy.

While that is true, he hasn't been that player since 2009. He's now 34 and not many players at that age recover a form they haven't seen in a half dozen years. Even Papi only slumped for ~two years.

Very close play under replay review in Oakland. I would propose that if the call is so close that it can go either way, the manager should be allowed a 2nd challenge even if the ruling isn't in his favour.

Watching James Paxton pitch for Seattle. Kid is going to be good. Strike that, he is good. Not throwing a lot of breaking balls, but he's got his four-seamer up to 95-96, using his two-seamer for contrast. Trout gets him for a double, he strikes out Pujols, but he walks Freese. So he strikes out Hamilton and Kendrick. Also, Brad Miller is the real item, with two homers last night, and a double and single tonight.
When they get Iwakuma and Walker back, this staff should be very good. Seattle ahead 2-0, looking for a 3-game sweep.

Yeah Seattle is a really interesting team to follow this year. That SS is quite good, sometimes College SS do turn good.
Also just saw my main man Stolmy Pimentel throw a clean inning. Hopefully he establishes himself with a good season this year,.

Old friend Josh Fields shut down the yanks in the ninth.
The Astros are off to a nice start and could surprise.
Then again, they may be feasting on a truly bad team!

Scherzer went 8 innings yesterday, allowing 0 runs on 110 pitches. This performance was of course so poor that he was not credited with the most valuable stat in baseball, the pitcher W.

Pimentel pitched 4 clean innings last night and got the win in 16. Awesome. Also, Mark Melancon was one of the three "proven closer" types who did not manage to have a clean inning in this game, just in case anyone wants to make themselves believe that trading him for Hanrahan was not awful.

Giancarlo Stanton just sent another one into orbit. That swing is so short and explosive. I still don't want the Sox to pay the price it would most likely cost. But man it's fun dreaming.

Jameson Taillon is going under the knife and will be out for the year. Big blow for a guy that was expected to contribute this year to a team hoping to contend.

Brandon Belt is turning into a monster at the plate. Hard to believe he's only 25 as it feels like he's been around a while.

Matt Moore leaves the KC game with an apparent injury. Could be a big blow.

Jeff Passan
Hearing Matt Moore's elbow injury involves his UCL. If tear small enough, could rehab, pitch through. Often ends up with Tommy John surgery. 10:04pm - 8 Apr 14
