Today, the #Dodgers optioned Tim Federowicz to the minor leagues. Also, reassigned Joc Pederson, Zach Lee and Miguel Rojas to the minors.

You heard it here first. Adrian Gonzalez just stole second base against the Diamondbacks and Miguel Montero, taking third on a throwing error. Pigs do have wings.

Ken Rosenthal ?@ken_Rosenthal 22s Unusual step: #Tigers announce they made “substantial, long-term contract offer” to RHP Max Scherzer, and that offer was rejected. Jon Heyman ?@jonheymancbs 14m #tigers announce they made offer to max scherzer that's been rejected, say they will now concentrate on field thru season.

Ken Rosenthal ?@ken_Rosenthal 27m Source: Extension talks between Masterson, #Indians have broken off. Free agency at end of season appears likely. Word is that Masterson offered 3/52 to resign and Cleveland wanted him to take 2/25.... My god I'd love to sign Masterson for 3/52... Let's works a sign and trade.. Ha

The Yankees rotation will be good and keep them in the race. Tanaka looks legit, Nova is good and Pineda looks great, throwing mid 90s again. CC looks to have transformed himself into a pitcher capable of working with lower velocity and Kuroda is going to be at least solid. Sure there are questions and not a ton of depth, but there aren't really health question marks outside of Pineda

So Yasiel Puig seems to be another drama queen who can't figure it out and is going to waste his talent until he is out of baseball.
Apparently he came into camp weighing ~270 LBs.

LOL, Mattingly pulled him out of the 2nd game in the ninth and was pretty criptic with his explanation. Another interesting character to watch ?

I wouldn't call him a drama queen, he's a young dude who is rich and famous just a little after coming over from friggin Cuba. If that happens again then it would be a problem, right now it's understandable to lose yourself a bit when half the world is jealous of you.

The first 20 times acting like an entitled brat don't matter, but the next one will? You guys see the story about them working on pop-ups during spring practice and all the veterans taking it serious while Puig ran in circles laughing while letting the ball land behind him? He's a talent but hardly polished player. He's going to struggle this year a bit - hopefully, for his sake, he learns about hard work.

The driving force behind him making that post was the recent Puig "drama queen" incident in Australia.. Showing up to camp out of shape was not his main point, just an add in to give more evidence he doesn't care about the team. You may not think its a bid deal, but Mattingly and the Dodgers do so I'm more inclined to side with them. You can give all the excuses as to why he's a diva you want, but it doesn't change the fact he is. There are clear reasons Justin Beiber acts the way he does, that doesn't make it anymore alright.

Nick Cafardo ?@nickcafardo 3m On Orioles Rule 5 pick Michael Almanzar, he went for MRI on swollen knee. If serious O's could hold to him on DL and not return to Red Sox.
I don't know why this annoys me, but I want him back. I call BS.

On the other hand, if it is BS, it wouldn't be the first time, would have to be season long and realistically, it's not something I wouldn't expect of the Sox if they really prized a draftee. Well the Orioles broadcast today hinted at Schoop starting at 3rd to start the season so maybe they would DL Almanzar just to give Schoop enough time to see what he can do.

Pretty sure the Sox DID do this before. It was Duquette with Adam Stern IIRC. ADD: Hang on, I either have the wrong guy, or I'm wrong about it being Duquette (obv not him in 05-06)ADD2: Yeah, so I did feel at the time like they did this with Stern and his hammy, but it was in 05, so it obviously wasn't Duquette.

They did it with Lenny Dinardo too.
If it's a fake/borderline injury then it stinks more for Almanzar than it does the Red Sox. His chance, if/when it comes, is probably going to come for a second-division team rather than Boston. But to get to that point he needs reps, not a season where he hops on and off of the phantom DL.

The Red Sox also did this with Miguel Gonzalez, though his injury was much more serious (a torn UCL necessitating Tommy John) and so I don't think there was any implication that Boston purposefully gamed the system to keep him. Unfortunately, the Red Sox then let him go and he's become a pretty solid back-end starting pitcher for Baltimore.

What's nice for Baltimore - and perhaps bad for the Sox - is that he may just be reaching his prime at the age of 28. Given that he did miss so much time, there's a little less wear on the arm that you'd usually find on someone that age. And he really knows how to pitch, he's fun to watch (unless he's doing it to your favorite team!). Regardless, he's easy to cheer given the journey he's been on.
