Still don't know why they didn't bring in Gomes when Yanks brought out Thornton. Yanks have no other lefties in their pen and Carp's spot is going to come up at least one more time, possibly two. There were two men in scoring position. They could've put the game away with a single.

It's like he just bought OOTP Baseball and decided to randomly mash keys in pitch-by-pitch mode.

Someone needs to punch Farrell in the head next time he calls a hit and run. I mean really.

Jonny Gomes currently the Red Sox outfielder with the highest OPS at .713 ... and, incidentally, the only Sox outfielder with a higher OPS than Ryan Kalish (.708)

The sample sizes are obviously too small but Mike Carp has a career 123 wRC+ vs. LHP and 115 wRC+ vs. RHP. There is no need to panic when he comes up against a LHP, he is not Daniel Nava.

That should do it for Lackey.
Eight strong is just what the doctor ordered.

Anyway, John Lackey. Excellent job and 8 innings was exactly what our bullpen needed. Very happy with his performance.

Any time the sox or anyone needs a base runner all year against the yanks, a bunt or pretty much anything to the left side is a automatic base runner.

You'd rather listen to Don and Jerry talk about their favorite movies? At least the ESPN crew talks about the actual game.

I think that Brock Holt has earned a roster spot over Herrera at this point. You can always switch back if you need someone to play more SS.

I have trouble imagining that Holt would play SS much worse than Bogaerts anyway. :-|

Now it's time to hear from Girardi. I don't think the 'I didn't know excuse' will fly.
As good as Lackey was the nyy really sucked tonight.

Thank You Mr. Lackey.
I can't laugh at Jeter anymore. It's just sad. Reminds me of Willie Mays last year. He was the best player I've ever seen play but he played too long. Jeter has been weak on D for years , but this is bad.

I'll take it and laugh again at Pineda, but the manager and the defense need to stop giving up outs on both sides of the ball. Especially tomorrow when the margin for error won't be widened by pine tar.
