I cant believe you all are actually rooting for losses. We're going to get a protected pick anyway, the number of the pick is not nearly as big of a deal as how our players play, since most of them will be back next year. You guys are way too obsessed with draft picks You are right, but those that root for moving up a few spots it the draft can't be talked to. My guess is most were picked last on the playground and were better at baseball with pencils and computers than bats and gloves. I hope you don't cry if the Red Sox don't sign any free agents who require a draft pick if we wind up with an unprotected pick.

Workman had a nice game, so that's a plus. Betts/Bogaerts/Vazquez went 2 for 11, so not exactly a banner night there. I guess, in theory, all the prospects playing great and the veteran bullpen arms blowing games would be ok, but generally that's not been the case. Realistically, the Red Sox need better play out of Bogaerts, Webster, and Workman (and maybe Middlebrooks depending on whether you think he's still part of the future) and probably more offense out of Vazquez. If those things happen, the team is going to win more games.

Wow, no words for this. People seriously would rather have the best farm system than win the WS. And someone liked it too. Unbelievable ...yeah, the World Series might be out of the question at this point. I never said it was, this guy said he was almost as excited about getting a top pick as last year's playoff run, and people are always crying here when we trade prospects or dont trsde for prospects. People even whined when we gave up roman mendez and chris mcguiness for salty, and this guys post shows it even more

Mookie has been playing great, xander has been better recently, and several of the nicer prospects are still in aaa. Castillo isn't here yet and pedroia is out. Guys like Craig and Middlebrooks playing terribly may not be a huge reflection of our future if they're not going to be part of it. Craig also still looks injured, im kind of dumbfounded as to why they rushed him back.

We're still currently picking 7th but there are two teams, the Astros and Twins, who have identical records. Passing those two and maintaining it would be more than I could have hoped for at the All Star break.

It's true. We are doing a laudable job of sucking.

Im not giving up on craig but he is like our sixth best outfielder right now and im just wondering how he is going to fit in our team. He is also injured on top if that.

I'm Not sure why Craig hasn't been shutdown. There may be an injury he can play through but he's both playing like crap and it's unnecessary to play through an injury right now. He should be shutdown and if he needs surgery not should be done right away.
Koji should be shutdown too. Not trading him was dumber than dumb.
I'm not rooting for wins; I prefer the higher draft pick but it is not a black and white issue. Why do people always try to make things so cut and dry on this board?
More losses are better for the future.
Our young guys playing well is also better for our future.
If they win games because the young guys are playing well that's a much better trade off than them playing bad and losing.
If they play bad and we win because Ortiz and the bullpen carry the team and the young guys stink... That's a bad scenario for the future.

Holt as a starter sounds even better. Then he can catch Wright the next day.

My guess is most were picked last on the playground and were better at baseball with pencils and computers than bats and gloves. 1. Individual players doing well and putting themselves in position for success 2015 and the team's overall record still sucking are not mutually exclusive propositions (especially with how thin the rotation is and the likelihood that it is going to be supplemented from outside the organization this winter). 2. I don't root for losses, but if we're going to lose I'd rather there be some kind of silver lining. If losing 95 games vs. 90 games gets us a better draft slot and puts us in a better position to get the best player we can next June, isn't that better for the future? It's not like we're watching a playoff-bound team and thinking "Man, I wish we'd been terrible this year so we could get a high draft pick." We're already terrible, it's just about making the most of it.

The Sox are doing their part to combat this. They've recalled Britton and Bradley.

As the season winds down, it's looking more and more as though we will have somewhere between the 5th and 9th picks in the draft, but there is a cluster of 5 teams that makes it totally uncertain where in that range we will be picking.

Shutting Pedroia down should push us towards 5. I wouldn't bother pitching Koji either. No bite on split. It's like BP. Once Papi gets his 100 RBI's, not much reason to play him. I know someone is going to say screw him and his 100 RBI. But, if he wants to go for it. Let him. He'll be ready in the spring.

I guess Texas has the top pick locked up. Them and Houston have the top picks that's great for baseball down there lol. Too bad there is no game changer this draft.

Eliminated from the playoffs, 13 games to go. Sitting on the sixth draft pick Five game cushion on protected picks. Only half a game out of the eighth pick. Boston-Chicago-Houston look slotted into the 6-7-8 picks in some order.
