@brianmacp 26m Farrell on Gomes: "I know this is very subjective, but our energy on the field is different when he's in the lineup."
The hell is that!? Why doesn't he just say, "Look, we're lovers, OK? Deal with it."

Nice piece on MLB TV, conversations between Manny, Papi, and Kevin at Fenway, very nice.

Brock Holt 3B Xander Bogaerts SS Dustin Pedroia 2B David Ortiz DH A.J. Pierzynski C Jonny Gomes LF Grady Sizemore RF Daniel Nava 1B Jackie Bradley CF
This lineup could be improved in a very obvious fashion by putting Carp at 1B and Nava in LF, but apparently neither of them has enough energy to power Farrell's warp reactor. As anyone who has watched science fiction shows knows, warp reactors have a tendency to meltdown at inopportune times.
Also I happen to think they had the right idea earlier in the season when they played Sizemore CF and Bradley RF at Fenway. Oh well, at least we have a nice groundball pitcher on the mound today, would be a more important issue if Peavy or Buchholz were pitching.

I think we need to have his kid fall asleep in the opposite arm before he ramps up again.
Speier tweet
Sounds like Buchholz is heading to the DL with Alex Wilson rejoining the Sox.

Buchholz officially to the DL, Wilson officially back up
Figure it's probably Wilson back "down" with a starter (Webster/Rubby?) up Saturday

Don't look now, but I think JBJ is starting to heat up.
What the hell is wrong with Nava, he doesn't look like the same hitter as last season at all.

Lavarnway pinch hitting for Nava in the 6th inning doesn't exactly bode well for Nava's health? right now
Or they're going righty/lefty in only the 6th? Seems odd either way

Seems odd either way To be fair, there's a LOOGY-type on the mound. I'm a big Nava fan and have no big problem with his getting pinch-hit for. I just wish they had a better right-handed hitter on the bench than Lavarnway.

Beautiful opposite-field swing from Bradley. He's been heating up lately, and I bet he rebounds and hits somewhere around the league-average going forward.

Answer to Bradley's hitting problem: go the other way. Who knew?
