Paxton is the only one of their top 17 prospects to play for Tacoma recently.

That's not racist, that's cultural, and as someone who has spent time in Japan and interacted and worked with many Japanese, this is accurate to a point. Every individual is different - and Koji knows he is looking at the end of his career so money may win out on that particular decision (and we all know who has the most of that in the game). But the Japanese culture is still very predicated on the individual being subservient to the greater whole. In fact, many in Japan are still shocked when a player on their favorite takes a leave of absence during the season for the birth of a child (though much more encouraging and understanding if it is to mourn the loss of an immediate family member). On the other hand, Koji was traded to Texas, played out his contract, then signed with another team. Not sure how that fits into the cultural simplification, but it seems to me he'd sign with whomever gave him the best deal (assuming family/geographic issues were not a big issue). Has anyone ever gotten traded by a team in the middle of a season and then signed with that same team the subsequent offseason? I mean, it must've happened at some point, but nothing comes to mind right now. I'd suspect there's a psychological reality here ... as much as players say, "it's a business" and, "I completely understand," they are still being told by a team, "we don't want you around here right now."

Nick Franklin, Jesus Montero and Justin Smoak each played yesterday, as did Erasmo Ramirez. Technically, they are not prospects any more and each is interesting (to varying extents).

Paxton is the only one of their top 17 prospects to play for Tacoma recently. Paxton won't pitch till Friday probably as he pitch Sunday. His stats were 4.1 IP 6H 1R 3BB 5K 78-47. They must be looking at Franklin, Montero, or (cough cough) Smoak.

Walker's back in Tacoma

True, but he hasn't pitched in Tacoma since 7/18. BTW, Smoak will be an arb2. None of the others will be arb guys, although I don't know about options. In any event, none of these guys (absent Walker, who I don't think will be traded for Lester) would headline a Lester trade. Paxton might, however. I generally don't think Jack Z will pull the trigger on a deal.

Could you imagine a more bizarre thing happening in baseball?
Ian Browne ? @ianmbrowne
Here is the craziest thing that could happen. Lester gets traded to Blue Jays and pitches against Sox tomorrow at Fenway.

We all should be rooting for Tampa to win today and tomorrow, with no injuries. Can't have Price being dropped on this market blow everything up.
This is a serious bidding war.

I agree with Amfox that a deal won't get done. Everybody I'd be interested in they don't want to trade and everybody they'd be willing to trade I don't want, there is no middle ground. At this point I'm in "please god no" mode on Franklin, Smoak and Montero.

Pirates are a team that can afford to give up an OF prospect in a Lester deal to go for it. Would love to see that deal, especially since temple has been calling it since the beginning of the season.

The Pirates would be a great option. SoxScout posted on his twitter that on MLB Radio they were talking about a package with Glasnow and Bell for Lester. They are also looking for a left handed reliever. Lester and Breslow for Glasnow, Bell, and Trey Supak. Seems like a deal that would benefit both teams
