I still think Xander will hit. The D is much more troubling to me. He is weak on fundamental things that are taught from a young age.
Taking a crow hop and stepping towards the target when throwing. Some times a SS doesn't have time and has to just flip it. He rushes plays that don't need to be rushed.
Taking throws from the catcher. He often steps in front of the bag. This makes it harder to get the tag down in time and exposes him to possible injury. One of the big base stealers like Trout or Davis is likely put his knee out in left field if he keeps doing that.
Being out of position on cut offs. Going to second on balls to right when he should be out as the second cut. Lining up too far to the third base side on balls to left.
Not seeming to know what he's going to do before he gets the ball. He throws to the wrong base or is slow making the decision. Dustin has tried to bail him out twice recently, only making things worse.
He is cutting down on the plus D of the catcher and 2b with his lack of feel for the position.
Plenty of other stuff which all the scouting reports have mentioned, slow first step ect.

I'd be ecstatic Norm if Bradley ended up with close to the bat of Paul Blair. Guys who play CF as well as he did (and throw) are few and far between. Bradley seems to be in that same mold from what we have seen so far. Problem is that defense alone doesn't seem to have the same level of importance in today's game as it once did.
Where a Paul Blair, or some guy who was worse with the bat.. Say Eddie Brinkman, or Mark Belanger, yet were terrific with the glove could play for 15+ seasons as a starter. Now a guy like Darwin Barney is passed around.
I hope Bradley can improve his hitting, otherwise don't see how his chances in today's game will work out long term as a starter, or situational player.

Curious decision by Farrell not to challenge there.

Eh... did Bogaerts just slide into second base so he wouldn't have a chance to advance to third on the throw home?

Why are they so slow to put him in the cart?

Awful injury. Blown knee. Just got home. How did it happen? Add: Stinks for Richards, and the Angels. He's been their best pitcher by far, and they've just taken the lead in the AL West.

Awful injury. Blown knee. Just got home. How did it happen? He was running to cover 1st base, got a bit distracted with the SS and his feet jammed in the dirt and his knee gave out badly. No contact injury. after that he didn't even try to stand and only put himself flat in the field.

Just got home. How did it happen? Was running to cover first, slipped and crashed into the base.

Mookie seems to pop out to the right side a lot.

Can someone please tell the Red Sox hitting coach that Xander is lifting his Right back elbow to high, his left lead foot is about 1 1/2 inches more forward than it use to be, making a smaller leg kick, placing his lead foot at 45 degrees rather than 30 degrees, and all of these are causing him to shift his weight forward to early & change the plane of his swing & break his back knee as a result. He is no longer driving through the ball and these are likely the result of trying to prevent being beat by the Slider away by speeding up his mechanics. Instead he needs to just keep his hands back and recognize the pitchers hand position and rotation of the ball. He is currently not hitting fastballs or sliders.

Get out of there, Nieves. Don't interfere with Clay's valuable tanking efforts!

That throw had a little more arc than is ideal, but Mookie's arm is no worse than average.

We're like the Bad News Bears defensively this inning. Letting balls drop, overthrowing cutoff guys, not knocking balls down, forgetting to hold runners.... this is ugly.
