The only acceptable alternative would've if both he and Johnson had worn Expos caps together in a show of solidarity. Johnson actually has an interesting choice. First Mariner or first Diamonback. The Mariners won't go much longer without being represented. Next year Ken Griffey Jr will go in as a Mariner. If not for Johnson, the DBacks would be waiting for a long time to get some representation in the HOF.

Counsell's big HBP before Luis Gonzalez's winning hit was huge - and against Rivera no less. It makes Millar's walk look whimpy. Or there's the sacrifice fly he hit to save the Marlins in the last of the 9th in Game 7 against Cleveland that tied the score and he did score the winning run of the World Series in the 10th inning. Tough choice Could take me years to decide. Need the whole 10 years of his being on the ballot to decide this - wish I still had 15 years

The Hall of Fame decides which cap a player wears. They say that they take a player's preference into account, but in this case it wouldn't matter - over 75% of his career value came with the Mariners.

Don't remember much about Junior as a Red except that he was injured quite a lot. Don't remember him leading them to anything. Junior on the Mariners is quite the different story. That was his team and he was among the top of his profession when he patrolled CF for the Mariners. He even came back to them to finish his career. I'd say his most indelible moments came as a Mariner and I don't even think it's that close.

I also think he'd go in as a Mariner but it wouldn't shock me to see him go in wearing a Reds cap. He pretty much grew up in the Cincinati clubhouse.

Roberto Alomar didn't go in wearing an Angels hat. First read my sentence, the beginning as well as the end. That being said, Roberto didn't request a trade from Seattle to Cincinati and Roberto didn't retire from Seattle unannounced by just leaving and calling in his retirement a day later by telephone. Junior did.

This may be off the current topic, but the few times I saw Pedro live, I was lucky enough for it to be while he was in his prime. My past Fenway visits included Pat Rapp. The only way I can describe it, it must have been like watching Jordan, or Tyson early in their careers. At bats didn't seem fair, and at age 11 I was actually under the belief that batters were helping Pedro get themselves out (confusing for a little leaguer) because it looked so easy and unfair. Now with the benefit of Stat collections, and better knowledge of the difficulties of the game at higher levels. It might not have been easy for Pedro for I doubt not he worked very hard, but he definitely dominated batters mentally and physically before, during and after the game. Hell, his changeup looked like a whiffleball live. Glad he got in first ballot, and for those who didn't ballot him for some "greater good"...they know in their hearts it was wrong, and I forgive them. Long live 97 with running break, 82 with a jet engine blowing at it from first base and esrly on 77 with the break of a ping pong forehand.
