Out six to eight weeks, plus what should be a fairly lengthy rehab assignment. And the list of potentially outfield-needy teams grows... I said this on Twitter, but I like that they're in the NL West, where two other teams with OF surpluses, the Padres and Dodgers, are probably less likely to swing a deal with them.

Bradley looked more in control in the batter's box. 2/3. Hopefully the Braves buy into spring looks.
If Bogaerts and Vazquez make normal strides this year, this is easily the best linenup in baseball. If Xander does what everybody and his brother thinks he's capable of, it's a monster. . . . Will Pence's injury provide an opportunity to unload either Victorino or Craig. Would either justify a top 10 Giants prospect. Even If I had to sweeten the deal I would target Tyler Beede or Kyle Krick. The bonus is that Beede is a local kid. Organizationally Krick fills a mid level organization shortfall. Pitching wise I see the organization strong at the Rookie league level, Lowell and Pawtucket and weaker at A and AA levels. Krick would help fill that void.

My response got wiped when a mod moved this one. Short answer: It's too light of an injury for SF to panic and take on $25mm/3years of Craig. He's a poor fit in that spacious outfield too, even with him likely to play left. And until he proves he can hit with some semblance of his 2011-13 talent, we aren't going to get much more than salary relief for him. Victorino is a much better fit. I'd expect that the Sox would need to scoop at least $3-5 million of his remaining $13mm, but you might be able to snag an intriguing prospect in the back end of their top 10.

Class: A day after Pence fractured his left forearm when hit by a pitch, he responded to Chicago Cubs minor league right-hander Corey Black on Twitter. Black posted that he was “lost for words. Hope you heal fast @hunterpence. Hitting someone is never a good feeling. Hurting someone is even worse.” Replied Pence: “It happens my friend. Thanks for the concern. Bruised shin... Usually minor. Let's hope it is in this case.
Edit: I forgot last years injury was his shin... You're right, not good.

Shins plural and it's been several years of issues. (The Tigers were aware when the trade went down).

Real tough news. Hoping for the best, but it doesn't look good. Texas has been slaughtered with significant injuries in the last year or so.
--- Tyler Kepner ?@tylerkepner 3m3 minutes ago One name to remember as Rangers try to replace Darvish: Anthony Ranaudo. Came to TEX from BOS for Robbie Ross and has looked good so far.
For their sake, I sure hope they do a bit better.

Now if they get back in me thinks Ruben won't be blinking and dropping the price so it doesn't include Swihart or Betts. He'll hold fast on the ask depending on the desperation in Arlington.

Between this and Tanaka, it almost makes you not want to sign a pitcher past 4 years, no matter how dominant they are at the moment.

Between this and Tanaka, it almost makes you not want to sign a pitcher past 4 years, no matter how dominant they are at the moment. Both Darvish and Tanaka were worked hard, for young pitchers. A lot of mileage on both those arms. At the very least, it's two more data points for the pitch count argument. I don't care if it is the Rangers or even the Yankees, I hate to see the talent go down.
