[/p] Is there a disconnect between the type of roster and the type of management style?
[/quote] The disconnect is we have veterans who are not producing, especially with runners in scoring position. It is Farrell's job to move these non producers into a lower leveraged situation and give others a chance to produce in critical situations until the veterans, Ortiz, rameriez, sandavol and Napoli put it together and start producing. The patience game is indeed a strategy if you want to call it that, but how much longer can we afford to be patient? We can lose with veterans folding in key situations and gain nothing or we can give the youngsters some experience in these type situations.

What youngsters need to be moved up? Rusney Castillo and his .233/.258/.233 line? Blake Swihart and his .225/.257/.268? I could see Bogaerts getting moved up, but (a) he's not exactly lighting the world on fire himself (he's hitting worse than Hanley and Napoli and basically the same as Sandoval) and (b) he's already moved up to seventh in the lineup, which is pretty much where he should be hitting.

One day per week with Hanley at 3B should help keep him in the lineup.

Still miffed at Peguero over JBJ. I really feel like the org is short-changing him, will trade him soon and then he becomes above MLB average somewhere else. Whereas here we could have Hanley at 1st or DH next year and and OF of Castillio JBJ and Mookie and fly balls will never find the grass. Perguero is Wily Mo Pena without as much plate discipline (and if you ever saw Wily Mo, he had a 30% or so K rate ). Meanwhile JBJ continues to rip it in AAA. Having him come up and ride the pine wasn't exactly a good way to assess him, either. It's way past time to clear out the deadwood on the roster. JBJ is most certainly NOT in that category. He needs legit playing time to see if his AAA performance can translate. Especially given Hanley's LF defense.

Only you could think that Jeff Bianchi deserves more (any) playing time. Love that passion.

Yesterday was a complete embarassment to the paying fans and the entire organization. The team as constituted is a joke. You either go full rebuild for a few years and let the Betts, Bogaerts, Swiharts, ER, Johnson's and Owens develop while stashing the cash for elite talent in the mold of a Hamels, Kershaw, Stanton type players when they become available. You must know when to cut bait with older veterans see Ortiz.. Hamels is by no means elite. He's very good, but probably won't be for long. And all three of those players are with their original organizations, having signed big-money extensions to do so. "Elite" talent is no longer really available on the open market...even once-elite players generally only hit FA well after, or at best in the tail end of, their primes.

Yeah let's start Peguero in CF and Bianchi at SS. Then we just need to sign Mike Carp to platoon with HanRam at 1B.

Bianchi would have been a fortuitous choice for 3B on Sunday in the 9th ... and SS on Sat (if he weren't in Limbo that day) and Peguero is an upgrade in LF. (Yes, he probably cannot play the Wall and will be gone before he can ...)
Doesn't Pablo have a bum knee?

Doesn't Pablo have a bum knee? Are you related to Bianchi or Peguero? Because that's the only excuse for saying that.
