I started this thread and it certainly has had a long and busy life but as soon as I saw the story this morning about the truck it occurred to me that it was time to end this thread. So let's do it and move onto the new thread on spring training that Chris created. I think we're going to have more fun this year than we did last year.

This has been a long and winding road of a thread, but I'm thinking it's probably time to let it die. The point was once ideas to fix a team in last place, but it's become something of a catch-all, and we generally don't love catch-alls here. Even a lot of the germane discussion would be better suited for a different thread than one trying to "fix" the club, at this point, given how much went down this offseason. Not going to close this, but if you're going to post something in here, make sure it's not better suited for another thread, existing or that should be created. My answers to the question have been many and varied. Now it's "play some games." An answer we hopefully can all agree on!

Agreed...most (all) of the major answerable questions have been addressed: true #1, legit closer, legit setup option, solid 4th outfielder. Everything else will require games to shake out real needs. Game on.

Late rumors: @peteabe: The #RedSox are considering free-agent LHPs. Neal Cotts and Frankljn Morales among those under consideration.
Wouldn't mind taking a flier on Sean Marshall if he's healthy

There are still a bunch of reasonably promising relievers out there who might settle for minor league deals with an opt-out. I'd love to grab a couple of those guys and see if any can beat out Layne/Ross/Escobar for that lefty reliever spot (or grab a spot that opens up due to injury). I think some of those guys might be able to get guaranteed deals, though (for instance, I'd be surprised if Morales had to take a minor league deal), so they might have to settle for guys a tier down.
