We've only taken one HS pitcher through 30 rounds Not taking HS pitchers in the first round particularly actually makes sense because it is the most risky kind of choice. College pitchers were previously the safest picks in the old aluminum bat days. HS hitters were the next best option followed by college hitters. With college baseball more normalized with huge ballparks, composite bats and new kinds of balls, the new order of relative predictability is now college hitters, college pitchers, HS hitters and then HS pitchers. HS pitchers are least reliable, in part, because of the injury risk. Is Cherington following the Theo Epstein approach now or visa versa? It must also simply be a weak year for HS pitchers.

The Yanks just drafted a guy named Andrew Miller. Figures. They weren't sure if this was a fantasy draft, so they had to make sure they got their guy.

Tyler Spoon bats right behind ABT at Arkansas.
(also another college OF)
You have to think some of these guys are going to Greenville at this point.

5 picks left. So far, no real impossible sign so far I guess. You never know, but I don't see a Hooper or Sands pick yet.

The craziest part about this CF spree is that we currently have the following guys projected for Lowell or the GCL: Trenton Kemp, Bryan Hudson, Danny Mars, Jordan Austin, Yoan Aybar, Luis Alexander Basabe, & Raiwinson Lameda.....all of which can play at least some CF.
