According to Alex Speier the Red Sox are near the bottom of the league in OF production. I think they did a great job drafting for need.

Clate Schmidt #32 was just diagnosed with Lymphoma on 6/3. He looks to have good baseball skills also, up to 96mph and a sharp breaking ball. Hope he can have a "Lester" and make a speedy recover from what seems to be pre cancerous Lymphoma, according to this story: Clate Schmidt story

Not just the of, but if we're in a pitching dominated era. It will be good to have plus athletes. Maybe, you can save an important run with defense. Or, good base-running. Not just stealing bases.

One high school pitcher. How often does that happen. At least we know he's signing

JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 25 sec. So the draft is over. 396 of the #BA500 were drafted. Majority of those who didn't get drafted are HS kids headed to college.

Three times as many second basemen as high school pitchers. Wow! There have been years when the Red Sox did not draft any second base prospects.

Great story, cheers. Everything in it, but the words he has signed, though imagine from way it's written and he's talking that they already have a verbal agreement in place.

Tyler Spoon bats right behind ABT at Arkansas. (also another college OF) You have to think some of these guys are going to Greenville at this point. Actually I'm a big fan of how Spoon has produced for Arkansas. I believe he is a red shirt JR and has the option to return to school so I'm not sure how that effects his signability. Would be great to send him along with Benintendi to keep the gang together and help in the adjustment to pro ball.

Thinking it's a decent draft overall for the new CBA rules. Lots of reliever type, power pitcher profiles, like Kelleher, Taylor and Schmidt. Several guys who slid with impact potential in Allen and maybe Washington.
Would be really great if they would take that trio of pitchers and start their professional careers out as relievers since all were mostly relieving already before anyway.

I like the 2 picks of Andrew Benintendi and Jagger Rusconi, but I am not familiar with the other players. How's the result of this year's draft? Excellent? good? or bad?
