LOL, there's 2200 rooms in this place. I swear you could run a marathon inside here and rarely cross paths

Marlins are telling teams any deal has to make them better this year, while offering long term value. They're not looking for prospects. In other words, it will never happen.

TR Sullivan @sullivan_Ranger 2 min. Rangers have talked to Red Sox....Joe Kelly is of interest to them... Drew Smyly of the Rays is another possible trade target

Hard to get better this year when you give up the best pitcher in the game unless you think he's going to be hurt. Which has been the case

Chapman to the Dogers per Ken Rosenthal.
Edit: BREAKING: #Dodgers agree to acquire Chapman from #Reds for two prospects. Deal is pending review of medical records, sources say.

For 2 prospects, not Seager, Urias, or Deleon.
One year rental, though

The Dodgers are going to work a package with Puig for Fernandez. Mattingly will love that.

So they now have a NYY type BP with 2 clear closers, but they will both expect to close. Not sure how that will play out. I would really assume now they will HAVE to sign Cueto with using prospects to sign this rental. They would have to give up way much more than Puig for Fernandez.

Throw in Pederson too and give the marlins 5 outfielders, make them the dodgers 2.0

The contact with Napoli makes sense if they're looking to deal Hanley.

Maybe they are going to be able to trade Hanley? Only way I could see Napoli back. Napoli/Shaw platoon at first?

What would it take to get Joey Votto. If the Reds are selling you gotta ask right?

For those thinking about Fernandez, 8:11am: Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports tweets that the Marlins asked the Dodgers for both Julio Urias and Corey Seager in exchange for Fernandez, illustrating the fact that the Marlins aren’t shopping him but only looking to move him if they can receive an overwhelming return. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports asked one rival exec what he thought the Dodgers would need to part with in order to acquire Fernandez, and the exec said Urias, Seager and Scott Van Slyke — an even more sizable haul. www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/marlins-discussing-jose-fernandez-with-dodgers-two-others-deal-still-unlikely.html

Of course they're trying to dump Hanley, but of course that's extremely unlikely. Even if they did, can't see them going back to Napoli - he can only play 1B (or DH) and Shaw would be first in line. Makes no sense

I see, but why would you want to stay there through a rebuild?

Makes no sense A platoon with Shaw makes sense. Even though Napoli was pretty bad last year, he was still killing lefties.

I see, but why would you want to stay there through a rebuild? I can't answer for him, but he says he loves Cincinnati and doesn't want to leave. I'll believe what he says until something different comes out.

It is an odd situation with Hanley and Pablo both, its hard for me to believe that they could equal or worse than last year. I would imagine both will be better this year. Hanley should offer at least average defense at first. That being said if you can deal them I guess you have to.

Since we have about 4 other threads in which we can speculate all the moves the Red Sox should make, let's leave this thread for discussion of actual news and rumors from the winter meetings. Thanks!
