That third strike to Smoak is exactly where Vazquez adds value. Porcello mislocated (pitch was supposed to be low, instead was high), but Vazquez gets a big borderline strike call by not stabbing at it.

Wow. I've been a bit of a skeptic where Vazquez is concerned, but the defensive difference between our two young catchers is stark.

It's seriously impressive seeing this guy catch. I follow discussion on this board closely because I think there are some very smart baseball fans here. I've read a lot about pitch framing and how Vasquez is statistically amazing.
It's just obvious when you watch this guy, you don't even need the statistics, but truly, big fan of Vazquez and the minds on this board.
