Where'd the offense go? Kind of need it if Buchholz continues on continuing on.

From the stretch, he is not finishing his pitches and opposing hitters are jumping on it every time. I can't imagine Carl isn't totally frustrated with him. Maybe Carl is the problem? Since his tenure, it ain't been good.

I gotta say, if we were told Buchholz would give us 6 innings and 3 ERs we'd probably all signed on for it, but this feels like a chasm.

The worst pitcher in baseball with a quality start! Let's get some bats going now.

No harm, no foul but a good throw by CVaz nails the runner.

No friggin clue how major league hitters are ever tempted to swing at balls that friggin bounce before homeplate.
It's absurd.

Jackie's just had great at bats all night; most of the team hasn't.

I'm pretty sure Allen threw 75% of his pitches that inning outside of the strike zone, but our hitters couldn't show any patience.

All the time, that's why I'm posting on forums. To give people the knowledge of how awesome I was facing major league pitches. Sorry, I played enough baseball to know, pitches that bounce before home plate are very recognizable before you even think about swinging.

I guess we'll just never know what just happened. So, no explanation from the umpire for the fans what happened on that HBP/swing/out? I'm just curious.

Let's get some bats going now. If he were actually just bad, he would be easy to deal with. He's allowed a 1022 OPS the first time around the order and c. 678 afterwards. He's allowed a 1272 OPS in high leverage situations and c. 721 otherwise. He's allowed a HR in ... 1.6% of his PA with the bases empty 3.7% of his PA with a runner on 10.0% of his PA with 2 runners on 100.0% of his PA with the bases full.

Here's a new batting order:
Bogaerts Bradley Betts Ortiz Ramirez Shaw Pedroia C LF
That's perfect R-L balance 1-7; for reasons that have been stated previously by myself and others, Bogaerts profiles as a leadoff hitter (and I've reluctantly and sadly concluded that Betts does not).
It looks like pitchers are finally buying into Bradley, and his walk rate is climbing. It's time to realize that Pedroia is no longer one of your best hitters and hasn't been for a while, and his propensity for GIDP can be ameliorated.
You can't rely on scoring 10 runs a game; that obviously isn't sustainable; I think the above lineup might optimize runs on nights when you're facing better pitching

Sorry, I played enough baseball to know, pitches that bounce before home plate are very recognizable before you even think about swinging. I mean, either major league hitters aren't good, or it's harder to lay off these pitches than you think it is. And I think major league hitters are good.
