Big of you to admit that was a mistake. Is there any pitcher who gives up a home run on every pitch that isn't perfect? Big spot opening up in Buchholz's entourage i heard, I'll put in a good word for you. Needs more yes men.

What an unlucky inning there. The good luck is just around the corner.
I mean really, what were the odds that the Rockies would hit 2 balls a combined 1000 feet off Clay? He's just unlucky. Has nothing to do with the fact that he has junk stuff and is so mentally soft....just bad luck.

The fielding is another thing with Clay that's so frustrating. It's a mile of difference between Wright fielding his position and Clay.

Who was all pumped about Swihart after last night because he hit 2 triples? He looks overmatched tonight. He hasn't done anything with a long enough track record to make me think he's more than a trade chip. He's likely their best option in LF right now, even when Holt returns so Holt can be the super-utility. Agreed to a point. But the first AB Swihart hit a line drive at Cargo. The second AB was definitely bad.

Meanwhile, there have been 3 or 4 deep fly balls for the Red Sox that went further than the Rockies' HRs.

I wonder if he's tipping pitches; looks they knew the offspeed were coming

Two knocks by Bradley that would be out in more than a few parks.

Seems like JBJ's hitting streak is detined to end tonight...with the lineup going quiet and him crushing two balls both only to be caught.

What can you say? Rockies murder two balls and score four runs. Sox murder three balls and don't score. Looking like one of those nights.
Baseball.

According to one of the announcers, after his next bullpen, Farrell said a decision will be made on where ERod's next start will be. He's been participating in PFPs and pens with the big club.

Look at that horrible pitching on that Gonzalez IF hit. I bet it was the first IF hit to SS he has hit in his career.

I do think you both have fair points. People are unreasonably hard on Buchholz but also I think I'm just about reached the point I'm done with him and he can't help us anymore. I'd rather have Elias going forward.

Clay had such a gutsy 2013 postseason, he was evidently injured and had absolutely nothing in every game that he pitched. But he gutted it out, kept the team in the game and the Red Sox went 3-1 with him as the starter. Some key starts at that, it reminded me a bit of Pedro in 1999. Obviously he wasn't as good, but he was as injured and as tough. Great memories with him.
I think it might be time for a change of scenery for him though. Not overreacting to one bad start against the Rockies, but his career with the Red Sox has been so erratic and wonky that maybe it's time to try and find success elsewhere.

I'd rather have Elias going forward. Yeah. He grooved those pitches to Story and Garneau for HRs. But the four GBs that found holes for singles were bad luck. The 0 LOB in his line so far is bad luck.
