Everybody knows Nelson de la Rosa, but who is Karim Garcia?

Its funny that you call people out for reacting to results when your definition of non perfect pitches is result based as well. Gray just threw a pitch that could not have been more right down the middle of the plate thigh high, which Vazquez whiffed on. It's pretty obvious that Gray made a bad pitch because he has no guts and CVaz whiffed on it because he has no guts either! I've finally got this baseball thing figured out.

JimEd....you backing of the pitcher is admirable. I think everyone wants to seee him pitch well. When he does....it's a thing of beauty. However, the team will be 3-6 in games he has started this year...26-12 in games he doesn't. It is also the 2nd time he will halt a 4 game win streak.
Some of that is just baseball randomness, for sure. But this is a team that has a ton of talent....and whether is a bad pitch...bad luck....whatever...he is a currently a pox on this house. He isn't carrying his weight, so the people criticize...very accurately, in my opinion. The points your making won't stem that tide.

Well, if we can have three baserunners JBJ will get another chance.

If the Sox can rally to get Jackie another AB the place will erupt

The DD poll was absurd. Is saying 'runs well for a catcher' a microagression/hate crime? I guess I'm just old.

When i saw JBJ was leading off tonight I had a feeling the streak might come to an end.

So many unusually poor ABs tonight.

One thing to keep in mind is that even though Clay has not pitched great (luck or not), our offense scored 2 runs in the first inning and nothing in innings 2-8. Even if Sultan Steven and Demigod David were pitching tonight, we'd still be losing this game.

If Hanley or Shaw or both gets on base, will they please PH Mookie for Young?

Yeah, get Ross up in case we can't hold the lead to 5 runs. Farrell is never ever going to get it.

Sox really need Buchholz to finish his pitches. Seems like everything he leaves up or over the plate gets hammered.

Terrible night all around.
Hopefully good news come from it though being the end of Buchholz in a Red Sox uniform.

I think when that first long fly ball was caught in the 1st inning I had a bad feeling.
Honestly it just feels like a drag when Buchholz gets the ball. Everything feels different when he pitches.
I don't know about everybody else, but I'm quite ready for the Clay Buchholz era to be over. It's not really worth "waiting" for the hot streak he's supposed to have. While we wait, he's just awful. His fastball is batting practice and it might not get much better for him this year.
It's obvious he should be the odd man out of the rotation. They need to stick him in long relief which is unfortunate for Heath Hembree.
But this is so Buchholz. When he goes well you get aggravated that he winds up on the DL.
When he goes bad you get aggravated that he's actually healthy and not on the DL.
Too bad about JBJ.
His streak is dead. Long live the new streak - Xander at 19 games.
So now we start with Xander watch.

The only enjoyment from tonight was between 7pm and 7:30pm when Boggs got his number 26 retired and Yaz came into the broadcast booth to give a rare interview and was there when Ortiz went deep.
After that it was all Buchholz and downhill.

Technically true, but they did each give up 3 runs in their starts yesterday and the day before. That would still be too much to win given tonight's offensive output. Whether we lose by 1 or lose by 30, a loss is a loss.

This may be a nasty sentiment, but I am kind of glad the streak is over. Nothing against JBJ, I did not wish for the streak to end. But streaks like this can get distracting, they can add pressure, they can get in the way of optimal performance. Now he can just play without the circus-within-a-circus atmosphere that a streak engenders.
