Why can't this dude just let people vent in a game day thread? My god.

This may be a nasty sentiment, but I am kind of glad the streak is over. Nothing against JBJ, I did not wish for the streak to end. But streaks like this can get distracting, they can add pressure, they can get in the way of optimal performance. Now he can just play without the circus-within-a-circus atmosphere that a streak engenders. I see where you are coming from. It's also encouraging that he hit two absolute screamers that could have home runs on a different night, so it's not like he's gonna go ice cold now.

Ya in toronto the first flyball probably makes it over the fence in right field.

The orioles lineup got punched out 53 times by the houston astros in that 3 game series. Very happy they are struggling losing 4 straight going into clevelend this weekend.

Well, as the saying goes: can't win 'em all—and certainly not when Clay starts.

Clay Buchholz doesn't have a fastball that's fooling MLB hitters anymore. I think hitters are hitting something stupid like over .350 on it. His off speed pitches are good enough to get him some scoreless innings but his fastball lacks life and velocity, especially out of the stretch.
This has probably been the reason for terrible Buchholz 2016. In past years he had 94-95 to get away with bad location on his fastball and it was deadly with his off speed but the decline in velocity is really showing in his results. He can't put people away like he could in years past. That's one of the main reasons why hitters are fouling balls off imo.
I don't know if it's the decline in his 30's or if it's the arm injury talking from last year but he isn't going to get on that dominant stretch again. It probably was a bad idea trying to wait for it, considering he has had 2 quality starts in 2 months worth of baseball.
Maybe he can flash better velocity out of the bullpen in shorter innings and stretches. Or maybe it's time to cut bait. Either way he's out of the rotation for sure and it's a lock to this point that his option is getting declined next year.

I can pretty much guarantee you his OPS will be lower a month from now than it is right now.

I don't want to see the cold JBJ who strikes out a ton and has a sub .200 average for months and months out of the season.

When Nomar's streak ended, the Sox' record took a nosedive, though that was a different situation where the season was already lost, and the streak was sort of sustaining the intensity for the team.

Well, as the saying goes: can't win 'em all—and certainly not when Clay starts. On the post game show, I was at least proud of Buch for owning up to this, basically calling himself the weak link in the rotation. He wasn't like Matt Harvey the other night simply leaving the clubhouse without even talking to the media. I hope it will be like last year after Porcello was getting lit up in the 1st half, took some DL time off & came back strong.

Shouldn't there be a less sketchy way to deal with this situation built into the rules? Maybe I'm making a lot out of nothing.

I'm not trying to defend buch's performance, but we would of lost that game if we switched out prices or wrights performance against the Rockies for bucks. Gray shut down a very good offense.

I don't know.....Once Buch started giving up the runs in bunches, Gray could really relax & not have to give in to anyone. IOW, I believe the momentum of run scoring carries over to the pitcher as well.
